I wouldn't even give them one star.... BUYER BEWARE! This company came to my complex to help one of my military service members move out due to them being deployed. To start, it took them over 5 hours to pack up one apartment. While they were here one of their employees harassed 2 of my residents, stood by the pool creepily watching some girls tan. He was kicked out of the pool area due to making residents uncomfortable. Furthermore, this same man was in my residents house eating their food instead of packing up the apartment. We got a 4th complaint about the moving truck blocking in another residents car, She asked the man (who was involved in all the other altercations) to politely move the truck and he ignored her and then tried to follow her back to her apartment. As management we took action to get the moving truck out of the way and I had my own altercations with this man. He ignored me while looking EXTREMELY intoxicated. I told him I was not leaving until he moved the truck and in return I was cussed out by this biliterate man to the point he became aggressive towards me. We called to cops to get him trespassed and I reached out to the company and have not received a call back or even an email in regards to this issue that cops were involved over. Highly unprofessional on managements side and background checks need to be added to their application process.

Bekins is a well-known International moving company, so we were surprised to learn. we had actually retained Sunbelt Moving Systems, Inc. The post card we received in the mail had Bekins name on it. Packing service included double packing boxes; crew was packing small/medium boxes and then placing them inside larger boxes with only a few wrapped items on the side. One large box contained two small boxes with only our kitchen clock wrapped in a ton of paper on the side. Wonder how many kitchen items could have been packed that box, if those other two boxes weren't inside?!?! The day they loaded the truck, we received a "revised order" with a new cost that exceeded the estimate by over $3,000! Their estimator viewed every closet, cabinet and nook and cranny in our house... and couldn't provide a more accurate estimate? They packed more boxes than estimated, and of course, they supposedly weighed more... gee, I wonder why! I have a recorded voicemail message instructing me to call them with our credit card number or the scheduled delivery would be delayed. It's like being held prisoner... pay or lose everything we own!! I would NOT recommend this company to my worst enemy!! By far, the most unscrupulous movers we have ever retained. We're contemplating seeking a civil penalty. You can view my public Facebook post by searching for Bekins on Facebook to see public posts... lots of photos as proof of double boxes and damages they refused to accept liability for (I'm not the only post you'll view).

      Mrs. ******,

We are sorry that you were unhappy with some of the aspects of your move. Moving is very stressful and we had hoped to minimize that stress on moving day. Your estimator is very experienced in the moving industry but some homes, closets and kitchen cupboards are deceiving when it comes to estimating the weight or cubic feet needed for packing and relocation.

Regarding the post card you received is printed: Bekins Van Lines and Sunbelt Moving Systems-Agent for Bekins.

Bekins Van Lines has Interstate Authority (from one state to another) and we are a Florida agent for them.

Your move was a Florida Intrastate move (within the state of Florida) and Bekins does not have Florida Intrastate authority but
Sunbelt Moving Systems does. We did not intend to surprise you with our advertising both of our services on the post card.

Our packing crew was just doing their best to pack and move your belongings as safely as possible by carefully packing all items.

Also....our office did not mean to offend you by leaving a recording about the amount due. As a service industry we - like all moving companies require payment before we begin to deliver anyone's household goods. This is the industry standard and is included on the order for service/bill of lading.

Please accept our apologies for any miscommunication that caused you added stress.

      Kind regards,

      Gloria D.

Their response is laughable! They certainly didn't apologize for leaving an elderly couple without a usuable bed. In fact, they were notified, and to date, failed to provide service or compensation for the bed... and the lists of other broken and damaged goods is still growing. A mover with packing services that has no liability?!? If they knew how to "properly pack," one filled box would have been sufficient, without the need to place smaller packed boxes into larger ones; it didn't add any better protection, it only added to the box count!! They failed to address the complaint about all of the unnecessary boxes they used. Repacking small/medium boxes inside larger boxes is not only an unethical business practice when a company is charging for the boxes they pack... it's fraud. I had explained, my dishes were a Pfaltzgraff discontinued pattern, so if they were so concerned about liability, why did they cram soup bowls with handles on the inside of a large box that already contained two other smaller boxes they had just packed? I'd be happy to send them photos of all of our damages to date, but again, if they weren't concerned about leaving our bed broken, they didn't accept any liablity. Two of my soup bowls had the handles broken off and I'm unable to locate replacements (not even Replacements.com has these bowls in stock). My photos can clearly prove how many boxes were double boxed and the number of damaged items. Rather than a worthless and insincere apology, let them offer compensation. We clearly are victims of a mover with unscrupulous business practices. We just met new neighbors that also moved from a similar 3-bedroom home in the exact same subdivision where we moved from, and although they admitted packing 75% of their belongings, their move cost a total of $3,300... and they paid after their belongings were delivered. Guess not all movers abide by the so-called industry standard, demanding payment before a delivery will be scheduled. Of course, our mover claimed additional weight for all those extra boxes and increased our amount due by over $3,000!! I firmly believe my husband and I are the victims of fraud, and it's important to note, we are elderly, and my husband is a disabled veteran (with a service-connected disability rating of 100%). Please recall in my initial complaint, they wanted us to fix our own bed. I pray no other older veterans ever have to live through a similar experience!
