We have used ***** Enterprises tree service from Alachua, Florida a few times over the years and they have always been reliable and done a good job.
We recently hired them to trim back a large oak in our back yard. The verbal agreement was to trim back the large limbs and leave the main part of the tree trunk standing. They trimmed back most of the limbs on Thursday and Friday 12/02, ran out of time for the day and left the larger parts to return and finish the following Monday. I (foolishly) paid them for the work as ******* ***** said he had bills due and needed to make their payroll.
They did not return to finish the work & when I contacted ***** he said they would come later in the week which they did not do.
After repeated attempts to contact him in the following weeks, ***** called me.
In a very belligerent manner, ***** said the job was too big and the tree was in a “bad place” and it was risky for them to do any more work. I told him he knew full well the tree’s location before they started and that he should have been honest and discussed his concerns with me before accepting payment and saying he would finish the job. I also asked if he was going to return part of my money since they did not complete the work. He said he didn’t want to be “ugly” but he wasn’t going to waste time going round and round about the job. He said if they came back, he couldn’t take any responsibility for property damage done. I replied that it sounded like he was planning on doing damage. I told him my wife and I would discuss the issue.
My wife wanted no more dealings with him and we contacted another tree service to complete the job.
The owner of the2nd service asked who had worked on the tree previously as it had obviously not been trimmed correctly. I was, initially reluctant to tell him specifics but, after doing so he said they had followed up on ***** in the past and completed unfinished work. He also said ***** was known for ripping off customers.
