On 5/25/24, I engaged Strobert pruning services for trees and vines in landscape bed on my vacant home for a quoted price of $2,967. I paid 30% down ($890). When my contractor returned a couple of days later, he found that the Strobert workers had cut lines that led to damaging the AC unit. Per the contractor (the compressor went bad due to the unit running with no refrigerant and being exposed to open elements after the copper line set was damaged. This caused the internal issues inside the compressor and the outside condenser coil. The outside unit will need to be replaced because of this). I informed Strobert of this issue on 6/7/24. I provided them with a copy of the full home inspection report done at the time of purchase of the home that noted a fully functioning AC in the home. I provided them with pictures of the damage and also the recommendation from the sub-contractor engaged by the Contractor to provide estimate. They only gave me a credit of $750. It however cost me $3,750. Per the terms of the agreement under the workmanship/property care clause: “Strobert tree Services will exercise a degree of care and skill to minimize disturbance to the customer/property. Strobert tree Services work will be performed professionally with the appropriate tools, equipment and protective measure”. I have attempted to work with them however they claim I signed the contract and owe them a balance of $1,326.90 because I signed the contract and state I have been more than adequately compensated for the damage they caused. Clearly, they did not fulfill their side of the contract to warrant full compensation. They actually caused me to incur unnecessary cost burden with the damage caused. I was willing to call it even and just zero out the balance, however they are not interested in this resolution.

      Business Response

      Date: 09/02/2025

The damage in question occurred prior to the tree being cut; however, we extended a courtesy credit of $750 to the customer’s account. The customer later claimed that the air conditioning unit was running without refrigerant and also alleged that Strobert Tree Service cut the power line to the unit. If the power line had been cut by our company, the unit would not have been able to run at all, and therefore the compressor could not have burned out as claimed.
In June, we waived the remaining balance of $1,326.90. In total, the customer received credits of $2,076.90, and the account now reflects a zero balance. These adjustments were made in good faith to bring the matter to a full and final resolution.
