Entered into contract to build a seasonal room and deck to our home at *** *** **** ***** ** on March 26, 2024. The price for work to be performed is $37,500.00 and at the time of proposal acceptance a deposit of $18,750 was paid to the Contractor to secure a place on the schedule for work to be performed between June 2024 to no later than September 5, 2024, well before the late fall/winter season. At this time, I requested the Contractor to submit the required paperwork to the **** ******** ********** to secure the building permits as the ******** ********** has had processing delays due to the level of construction/building activity going on in town.

The Contractor ignored this request and did not apply for the permit until on or about July 2, 2024 and as predicted was not approved until September 27, 2024. Upon notification of approval from the Contractor I requested an estimated schedule for the work to be performed per the contract. After much back and forth regarding schedule and the lack of response, the contractor said he was going to send someone over to start marking for the piers/footings. I pushed back yet again because there was no estimated completion date from the Contractor.

Since then, there has been correspondence largely via text on the Contractor wanting to start without providing an estimated end date. I have made it clear that this is not acceptable and have requested a refund of the deposit.
