      I am writing to file a formal complaint against Wakefield & Associates for reporting fraudulent and inaccurate information on my credit report. Despite my efforts to resolve this issue directly, the company has failed to provide adequate documentation to substantiate the account or demonstrate their legal authority to collect the alleged debt.Wakefield & Associates is reporting a collection account (Account #*********** with a balance of $1,499 on my credit report. The original creditor is listed as ********************* I have requested that the company provide the purchase agreement or other documentation to show full ownership of this account, as well as additional supporting records to confirm that the account belongs to me. To date, they have not provided this information.Furthermore, upon reviewing the licensing database at **************************, I discovered that Wakefield & Associates does not have a license to collect debt in the state of *******, where I reside. This raises serious concerns about the legality of their collection activities and their compliance with state and federal regulations. Request for Resolution:I am seeking the BBBs assistance in addressing the following:1. Investigate Wakefield & Associates failure to provide proper documentation to substantiate the reported debt.2. Confirm whether Wakefield & Associates is licensed to collect debt in ******* and, if not, take appropriate action to hold them accountable for noncompliance.3.       I cannot get ahold of the business and they will not provide any info about me other than that they somehow have my exact bill from the hospital more than a year ago. I have never been mailed and they demanded my routing number and bank account over the phone. They took $116.77 and threatened my credit. I am now seeing that they are scammers and not real debt collection. I just want a refund. i can't even go into the website because my account number isn't even real. The link they gave me is not the secured website for Wakefield. They call me everyday from multiple different numbers.

      Wakefield and Associates called and left a message on the day after Thanksgiving!? I am with my family and this is pathetic!They were calling asking for someone other than myself!They are lowlife scum collectors trying to collect money that is NOT OWED TO THEM!This is RUDE and I told them to NOT EVER call me again asking for someone else that they are trying to steal money from during the holidays!I will call the attorney that I used the last time a bottom feeder contacted me when I told them not too!Why is this not against the law?

      I have emailed and sent letters to this company asking for my account number and a written copy of my billing with them and to make payment arrangements, as to date I have never received anything from them in writing and just need my bill in writing with an account number so I can pay online and setup payment arrangement. I want to pay this but they need to send in writing.       I am rejecting this response because: I appreciate that. I finally got a response back from them after a month. They are not correct with saying they sent me the information via mail on November 15th. I just received it on December 15th. After I filed this complaint they did finally send it to me but it was not in November. It was December. However, I do appreciate receiving it. I have also tried numerous times now that I have the account number to set up payment arrangements and they will not return any of my emails and online will only may let you make a $300 payment. It will not let you set up an arrangement. It will not take a partial payment. It will only take $300 or more. I am now getting ready to send out a letter to them them. Trying to reach a settlement on this to see if I can make one payoff payment for the entire account for half of the amount as I cannot pay $300 a month and as I have stated before I don't even have a home and after having a stroke I cannot work and communicate like I could before. So I don't know how you expect me to make that kind of payment, especially when you will not work with me on any kind of a payment arrangement. I would love to be able to settle this with either an affordable payment arrangement or an agreeance to settle it for half of the amount. I will await response since this seems to be the only place I can get a response. Thank you.

      Do not know what else to do twice. This company has agreed to payments of $50 a month and stated it was set up to where I could pay it online and I have tried multiple times and it will not take anything less than 270 online. I don't know what else to do when they keep saying they will accept $50 yet it's not set up that way like they say that it is. Can you please tell me what I need to do or how else to go about this twice? I've agreed with what they said through the better Business bureau and yet it's not set up that way. And it takes so much time having to wait for responses from them. It's my payments is supposed to be paid the 25th of each month and I cannot pay it online. Here is a picture of all it offers

      Wakefield Associates has been harassing me with phone calls and text messages saying I have a debt that wasn't paid. I ignored them knowing this was probably a scam since I have never not paid a bill in my life and no collections have showed up on my credit reports, but they finally sent me a letter. The letter stated an account number and a doctor's office I had previously paid a bill of. I checked my personal account to make sure that yes I did indeed pay the bill and decided to call Wakefield to get them to stop harassing me. When the girl answered she asked me the type of letter I received??? asked for some weird number that doesn't exist on the letter??? and when I asked if she meant my account number she said OH YES. She then asked me to verify my date of birth which I stupidly did and then told me...YOUR ACCOUNT HAS A ZERO BALANCE YOU CAN JUST IGNORE US. I asked her to delete my account and to never harass me again. Why are they sending letters out to O account balances if this is not a scam???? Please find them and shut them down. Now I have to call all 3 credit bureaus and freeze my accounts.

      The business, a medical debt collection agency, ruined my previously exemplary credit rating by erroneously filing a collection against me with the three major credit reporting agencies for an unpaid $680 emergency room debt incurred by somebody who spells their name differently and has a different date of birth. When I disputed the collection with the credit agencies, Wakefield insisted that its collection was correct. When I disputed the debt directly with Wakefield over the phone and in writing and requested a validation letter with proof of the debt, attaching a copy of my driver's license showing the correct spelling of my name and date of birth, I was ignored

      In 2021, my son had to utilize the services of EMS paramedics in ***********, **. Upon use of services, the bill from *** was sent to an invalid address and I never received the bill for services and no attempts were made from *** paramedics to advise of the outstanding balance due. My sons account was then given to Wakefield associates to collect the debt. In July 2024 I made contact with Wakefield in which they notified me of the debt owed. I called EMS paramedics to validate the debt, and they confirmed the bill was returned as undeliverable due to a bad address. Upon validation of the outstanding balance, I paid the balance in full on 7/15/24 with EMS paramedics, however despite a successful payment and multiple attempts to notify Wakefield and associates they consistently still call to collect the balance. I have notified Wakefield verbally during every collection attempt interaction the debt has been paid in full, through writing via email at ****************** on 8/29 and 10/28, and the original company *** paramedics spoke with Wakefield and associates directly confirming my account was paid in full and to stop collection efforts yet they still repeatedly call me requesting payment for a debt that I have paid, despite the proof provided. Each interaction they say they will review yet my attempts to validate the account as paid is going unnoticed. I provided a copy of the email sent to Wakefield and associates confirming the original bill provided from EMS logistics, confirmation of payment made directly to EMS logistics, and an email directly from *** confirming my account has been paid in full. Update your records.
