    I went in to the ************** to get my taxes done in person, as the online software could not accommodate some forms I needed to fill out.*********************************** did my taxes and gave me my payment coupons plus a print out of my tax return.I went home and submitted the money owed to the state of *********** June I received a notice from the state of VA that I had underpaid by $587.00, plus interest and penalties.When I went online to H&R Block, the VA tax return that they submitted was completely different than the one they gave me, including how much I owed. I was never notified of this.When I tried to contact the office to find out what had happened, I could not reach anyone. The office is closed (although it says that it is open year-round), and the phone goes to a voicemail box that is full and will not allow you to leave a message. SO THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTACT THEM FOR ANYTHING.I ended up having to go to another H&R Block Office to get help - they were also unable to contact anyone from the **************, but they did submit a claim to get me reimbursed for the interest and penalties.Since I have had to deal with this and drive to another state to get help with the error, I want my tax preparation cost refunded, as they made huge mistakes and did not contact me about them, causing m a great deal of trouble, travel and stress.

    A refund request will be submitted.  However, it is unlikely as it is passed the 30 day time frame for refunds to be issued.  Just like anywhere, there is a day limitation to claim refunds.

    I am rejecting this response because I did not know that H&R Block had screwed up until I was informed by the Virginia IRS that it had happened,.  This notification did not occur until June.

    If a refund is NOT granted by H&R Block, I will be taking them to small claims court.

    This person is requesting a refund.  Please let her know that this is a franchise, not the corporate branch.  The policy here is that there is a 30 day statute of limitations to issue refunds.  If she were unhappy she should have requested before 05/15/2024.  

    However, she did file a peace of mind insurance claim.  Please let her know the insurance claim should pay back the fees.  

    I am not involved in that process though, so this is NOT a guarantee.  

    If she were to get a peace of mind insurance refund and one straight from the company that would be double dipping.
