    I am trying to receive a refund on fees that we promised to me almost a year ago (23 business days past the payment date of January 19th, 2022). The managers of an apartment complex posted a "placeholder" apartment listing online which I submitted $258.77 in deposit, screen fees, and taxes to apply for. They let me know shortly after my application that said apartment was not actually vacant, and that they would refund me all fees in said 23 business days. Almost a year later, and after three times reaching out to them after the failure to pay, they have informed me that they will pay me back the $200 deposit, which I have received, but denying me the remaining fees. This is in violation of California Civil Code ******(c) and (e), of which I have informed them, but they have decided to deny me my payment regardless. I am asking for a refund of the remaining $58.77, preferably with a year's interest. I am hoping BBB can help me resolve this issue, lest I need to file suit against them in small claims court. It should be noted that this complaint is being levied against the property's owners (i.e., the "landlord"), who share liability with the property manager (i.e., the landlord's "agent") per California Civil Code ******. A separate complaint with similar wording has already been filed against the property's managers, FPI Management.
