      My mom recently went to get her vehicle smog at the smog tech pros located at ************************************** My mom is elderly so she did not notice the check engine light was on, but the technician saw that the check engine light was on and still took her money anyway. This was completely dishonest. If you can visibly see the check engine light is on you should be honest with your customers and let them know the car fail automatically. Not everyone has knowledge of this and although I know that a check engine light on will cause your car to automatically fail. My mother is elderly and she did not notice this same company. Also did this to my daughter. I have now informed my family members never to go to this small shop again, I have been to other small shops where they were honest upfront and informed me to go get the problem fixed and then bring it back because it would be an automatic fail but this particular is a very dishonest shop. I am asking that the BBB requires or informs the shop that it is dishonest to take a customers money with knowledge that their check engine light is on and it will automatically fail. I would like other consumers to know this as well because then it locks the consumer in coming back to that small shop to pay an additional fee to complete the smog. I strongly believe they do this, especially to women who lack knowledge. I believe the manager is full aware of what these technicians are doing as well. Since they have taken my moms money, she should not be charged any additional fees, knowing they saw the check engine light on all repairs have an updated to the vehicle since then.

      I am sorry to hear about your experience at our shop.  Please come by the shop at any time to receive your full refund; having that said, let me clear some things about the dishonest shop we are running, where we are taking advantage of our customers. 1. We are number one Test Only Smog shop by volume in *********************, 2. Highest rated, both on ****** and Yelp!, 3. Been in business since 2010. 4. Over a 100k smog checks done.

      I say these things to point out that business don't stay open who rip customers off, take advantage of old ladies and run a "dishonest" shop.

      As for your assertion that we fail customers so we can charge more money, please read the invoice that your received which states, ********* CHECKS COME WITH A FREE RE-TEST WITHIN 60 DAYS.  Which means we do not charge one extra cent for a re-test.  It's in our best interest that the customer passes, one, we have a happy customer and two, we do not have to re-test for FREE.  When the customer fails and the check engine light is on, the Vehicle Inspection Report prints the reason for the Check Engine light along with Codes to aid in diagnosis.  After the customer fixes the issue and returns to our shop we pre check the vehicle to make sure the repairs were completed and the I/M Monitors are ready, then we Re-test the vehicle for FREE and issue a certificate.
