To make this simple. Do not take your business here. The office staff will selectively enforce policies based on which parent they like better. My ex missed an appointment for our daughter and they waived her late fee no problem. I miss an imaginary appointment for our daughter (which I didn't agree to over a month in advance), and it's a steadfast $125 fee. They said they don't investigate the reasons given for missing appointments and must take our word. This is strange because they reached out to my ex to ask if I was lying. When I pointed out how inappropriate that was, and their attempt to pit us against each other, they then came up with a new excuse: all communications must be sent to the other parent. Mind you, my ex admitted to having communication with them that I was not aware of, and I know I gave them correspondence that my ex wasn't aware of on numerous previous occasions.

Fast forward, I had to tell AKA explicitly "I DO NOT CONSENT" to my personal correspondence being sent to my ex.... The next day, Dr. ***** sent it regardless... Completely inappropriate and will be reported further. In a business all about confidentiality, this is the most alarming thing a medical professional has ever done. Why would you trust him with your care?

As other reviewers have pointed out, there are issues, inconsistencies, and enough double standards to make you realize this isn't the place to trust. Protect your children from shady business practices and save yourself the hassle of finding another therapist office.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and with my experience with AKA, the weakest link completely ruined the experience. I will begin by sharing that a mental health evaluation for a child is what brought ** to this office, as they accepted our HMO. My experience with the provider we worked with was completely fine - zero complaints. This review is particularly for the administrative and billing department.

*********** charges a monthly "$25 administrative fee" for all clients - this information is in their service agreement, and expressly against the contract they have with my insurance provider (and likely yours if you have an HMO). I'm also pretty sure they dragged out the evaluation through three months so they could justify getting as many of those fees as possible. Without my knowledge (or even a receipt sent to me), I was charged a $200 fee for an "outside consult" that they claim was necessary to complete the eval - yet, wasn't billable to insurance. They charged a copay even though diagnostic mental health services on my insurance do not have copay, and the explanation of benefits I received clearly stated there was no copay. While **** doubled down that all the fees were correct - I have filed a claim with my insurance and I await my refund.

I understand they they won't give a signed copy of their complete report until the bills are paid - this is an acceptable, understandable practice. But, they submitted the claims incorrectly (wrong modifier) to my insurance and they were denied. When I inquired about the delay, I was given excuses and false promises multiple times. More than 4 months out and the claims still haven't been submitted properly and I finally demanded the report.

The amount of time I have wasted dealing with these issues is absurd. If you choose to go to this practice, I urge you to make sure you know what your costs should be so you don't get overcharged. I will never be returning to this practice.
