    In the first half of September, 2024, I contacted Geek Squad to make some tweaks to my old laptop. They took over control of it remotely, and said they needed overnight for the updates. When they called me in the morning, a woman named ******** recommended that I purchase a 5-year service contract with U.S. Gadgets, even though I already had a MyBestBuy plan. I got her to agree to knock $300 off the total, and paid $1,290 via credit card. Today I learned that Best Buy knows nothing about U.S. Gadgets, and I can't reach anyone at their phone number. I don't know how I got connected to them, but Best Buy has a problem, because this has apparently happened to other people. I have disputed the charge on my credit card bill.

    On August 1, 2024, I had a problem with a new computer that I had just bought and tried to call Best Buy Geek Squad but ended up talking to ********* who had US Gadgets supposedly install a "network firewall" on my computer to address pop-up virus messages. I paid them $489 for this firewall and a one-year subscription to insure it didn't happen again. When It continued to happen, I eventually contacted ********* and a local computer technician who bot said that the "network" US Gadgets say they installed was nothing more than a link to the Windows Defender Firewall that was factory installed on my computer.Since August 17, 2024, I have been trying to get US Gadgets to refund the $489 that I paid them

    On September 12, 2024 we had problems getting on our computer so tried to contact Best Buy Geek Squad, We typed in geek Squad on the computer and ended up with Geek Total Fix. When Geek Total Fix was talking to us on the computer we asked if this was with Best Buy because we had a Service Contract with them. They insinuated it was Best Buy but a better service than our contract. They went an took control of our computer and claimed they were fixing it. It took them several hours. When they got through, they sent us a bill for $1,499.00. We assumed it was Best Buy so we paid it with a credit card. When we got the receipt it showed it was US Gadgets LLC. The telephone number they gave us was ************ while they were working on the computer. On September 14, 2024 we brought the computer in to the Mankato Best Buy and they removed one malware and 73 viruses. We called ************ at 9:25 a.m. to say we wanted to cancel the service and get our money back. They said they would call us back and have not heard from them. On September 14, 2024 we called Discover, our credit card company and said we disputed this charge. When we got our credit card statement it was still on there. We would like our money back. They did not do anything to fix our problem and left it with malware and 72 viruses.

    September *******, I loged into Best Buy Geek Squad to get tech help with my laptop. Connected and , as usual, gave permission to them to controll my laptop. I was them sent to what I thought was the Geek Squad. they then said my computer was corrupted and they could fixit and then if any other problems came up they would fix them and fix any future problems for $1099.00. They installed two icons on my laptop for my to use when I needed help. The next week, I needed help and clicked on tht icon and was conntcted to someone that would not answer my questions and solve my problem. While trying to get them to solve my problem in chat I got a phone call from them telling my that they had fixed my problem before and the current problem was not covered. It was then I relized that I had probably been scammed. then my laptop crashed. I took the laptop to the Best Buy Geek Squad in a store and they fixed the problem and removed the corrupted sites Geek Tech had put on my laptop. The Geek Tech scam payment was processed to US Gadgets through Square at gosq.comCA. I contacted Square and they told me all they do is process credit card payments and I would need to contact the company. I have no reciept from the company, ****** has no reciept of the charge, but the payment was processed by my bank as a payment of $1099.00 on 08/08/2024 to SQ *US GADGETS LLC gosq.comCA. Square told me they have no record of a reciept of that amount, on that date to that company.,

    My computer needed some service, so I logged in to Best Buy. I am a customer of the Geek Squad and have used their help on several occasions. I signed into BestBuy and then the Geek Squad, and while chatting, they asked if I wanted them to have access to my computer. I said, yes, I have done this before, and apparently, I was diverted to another site resembling the Geek Squad page. During a chat, I questioned if this was Geeks Squad, and on the screen, they underlined the word Geek. I now realize that I had mistakenly entered another website without realizing it at the time. They spent a considerable amount of time on my machine and then came back with a report indicating that 60-80% of the system was corrupted, which they claimed they could fix. They flashed a couple of agreements on the screen, which already had my electronic signature on them, even though I had not entered my name; they did that themselves. They also installed some additional software. They warned that if I did not agree, the computer would be impaired. I ended up giving them my credit card information, and they billed my account, and it was billed to US Gadgets. I later contacted Best Buy and they indicated they did not do the work. They checked my computer and said I did not need additional software, and the computer was working as it should. I contacted US Gadgets, and they would not void the contracts unless I gave them access to my machine. I did not want them back on my computer. It seems I did not need the work they performed. They would not cancel the contract or negotiate a lower price. This is a very questionable practice and, in my view, is at least unethical and very deceiving, if not worse.I am reporting this to BBB for a response prior to disputing the payment with my credit card company.

    5/30/2024- paid & "work" done 5/31/2024-Geek Squad from Best Buy did an overhaul and removed all malware and remote access to computer that ********* installed I called for refund and cancellation 5/31. Was shut down and personally insulted.Dispute filed with Am Ex twice.The receipt does say non-refundable, but it also says refundable within 15 days. I contacted 1 day after and filed the dispute within the 15 days.************** US Gadgets dba ********* **********************************

    DATE OF TRANSACTION WAS 02/17/2024 GADGETS COMMITTED TO PROVIDE COMPLETE REPAIRS TO MY PC AND PRINTER. AFTER THEY INSTALLED ********* ON MY PC , ******* WOULD NOT PRINT BUT PAGE ONE OF A DOCUMENT AND MY PC STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS IT BAECAME REAL SLOW AND NEEDED TO BE RESTARTED AFTER EACH USE . THERE WAS MANY OTHER PROBLEMS I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE.ON JUNE 28, 2024 I HAD THIS PROGRAM CANCELLED AND UNINSTALLED FROM MY PC.THE PC BEGAN TO WORK AS USUAL IT BECAME FASTER AND BETTER TO USE.THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM I CALLED ABOUT WAS NEVER FIXED,THEN THEY WANTED MORE MONEY TO FIX PROBLEM, THATS WHEN I TOLD THEM TO UNINSTALL THE KASPERSKY SYSTEM THEN PC WORKED MUCCH BETTER.THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.
