At the end of January of this year, my family received a notice from California State Controller, ************************, in regard to TR04 Escrow Account Number: *****************. The notice clearly states that Claremont Escrow was holding property that belongs to us in the amount of $5,000. It also states that if we did not contact ***************************** at Claremont Escrow in a timely manner, these funds would be forwarded to the State of California in June.In a letter dated February 15, 2024, we wrote to ***************************** asking that the $5,000 be sent at the earliest convenience.By March 04, 2024, we had not yet heard from *******, so I called her to follow up. She acknowledged receipt of the letter. She also informed me how Claremont Escrow had inherited the file from College Escrow. I informed her that my family had tried to collect the $5,000 from College Escrow in ******* since 2019. She promised to familiarize herself with our file and have the $5,000 returned to my family by the end of the month. I mentioned that if it were easier to have the funds forwarded to the State, we would be happy to wait. She said that that would not be necessary and would honor her word.We did not receive the $5,000 by the end of the month. I emailed ***************************** on April 01, 2024. She responded that same day via email with an apology and promised to contact me upon hearing back from their attorney, assuring me she was simply "waiting on his approval to release the money."We have not heard back from *****************************. I contacted Claremont Escrow today via email, CCing *****************************, asking for an update by the end of the day. They did not respond.
