      We rented a 30 ft RV from Cruise America to take from *********, ** to ********, ** for our daughters wedding. 5 adults, 2 children under 3 and our dog. We were assured the ** and generator were just serviced and were working. All was fine until the afternoon of the wedding, we drove to the venue and the generator died. My husband or one of our other adult children had to leave the wedding and reception every ***** minutes to check on the dog. We had him blocked into the cab with the engine and ac running to make sure he didn't get too hot. We spent the rest of the trip fighting with the generator and having to stop every time it died to let it rest and start up again. The temperature was up to 108 degrees when we were there and on the way home still above 100 degrees. We cut out our time with our daughter and other family and came home 2 days early. We had the rental dealer email Cruise America hoping for some resolution of at least refunding the 2 days rental we lost by coming home early. We would have been satisfied with that, but their non response shows they do not care about the health and well being of their customers. I am disabled, and we chose an RV because we thought it would be easier on me to travel and 7 of us plus the dog would be more comfortable and make fewer stops and I could lay down if I needed to. Our youngest daughter has medical conditions that causes her to become dehydrated quickly. We purchased 3 fans that hold ice packs for $20 each at the recommendation of the rep I spoke with, they were barely ok for a single person but didn't help much. We tried to get CA to find a repair person or someone to look at it and the rep promised me he would call me back and he didn't because it was Sunday. Even if we could have gotten someone in ******** before we left. But no. Nothing. Not to mention the shocks were a nightmare, I have bruises on my arm from how bad we bounced. Plus cracking the mount to the rack for my mobility scooter.

      Cruise America bills itself as a pet friendly RV rental company, but my cat Spot is missing because a window screen was not properly secured. It took weeks to even get ahold of someone in customer relations, and basically their response is that they cant do anything to help because their legal language says they dont have to help.Being unwilling to take responsibility for negligence or to assist with finding our missing cat is not the same thing as being unable to help. A lack of legal obligation does not equate to a lack of moral obligation.Keep in mind, we opted for the full coverage insurance with our rental. Turns out, that only covers motor vehicle accidents.If you have pets or want an RV company that stands behind their service, I suggest you do NOT use Cruise America.It is written into our Rental Agreement (the governing document over this transaction) in section 9. LESSOR LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY subsection D, it states as follows: RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROPERTY. YOU AGREE THAT LESSOR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE TO YOU, ANY AUTHORIZED OPERATORS, OR ANYONE ELSE FOR LOSS OF OR DAMAGE TO YOUR OR THEIR PERSONAL PROPERTY CAUSED BY YOUR, OTHERS, OR ANY THIRD PARTYS ACTS OR OMISSIONS, WHICH SHALL BE INTERPRETED TO EXTEND TO LESSORS NEGLIGENCE UNLESS PROHIBITED BY LAW. YOU AND ALL AUTHORIZED OPERATORS HEREBY WAIVE ANY CLAIM AGAINST LESSOR, ITS AGENTS OR EMPLOYEES, FOR LOSS OF OR DAMAGE TO YOUR OR ANYONE ELSES PERSONAL PROPERTY, WHICH INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATON, PROPERTY LEFT IN LESSORS VEHICLE OR BROUGHT ON LESSORS PREMISES. YOU AND ALL AUTHORIZED OPERATORS AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD LESSOR, AGENTS, AND EMPLOYEES HARMLESS FROM ANY CLAIM AGAINST LESSOR, AGENTS, AND EMPLOYEES FOR LOSS OF OR DAMAGE TO YOUR, OTHERS, OR ANY THIRD PARTYS PROPERTY THAT IS CONNECTED WITH ANY RENTAL UNDER THIS AGREEMENTI truly feel for you and your family, and I wish there was more that we could do for you but at this time we are not able to assist with this.

      We are truly sorry to hear about the loss of your cat, and can understand how difficult and distressing this situation must be for you and your family.While we do have specific policies in place regarding our liability, we recognize that this doesn't lessen the emotional impact of your experience. We deeply regret that we are unable to offer further assistance in this matter due to the terms outlined in our Rental Agreement.
