****** ****** owner of Red Clay Engines was hired to fix my 2015 **** F-150 in May 2025. I was given inaccurate information and pricing on repairs. I was told my vehicle would be getting a partial rebuild I paid for parts and labor. Upon completion of the repairs my vehicle was released to me. Approximately 1 week later my engine completely blew up. I believe Red Clay Engines is liable for the damages due to negligence.

We dispute Mr. **** ***** report for several reasons. We believe that his statement that he was given inaccurate information and pricing on repairs is incorrect. We were in near constant communication with Mr. **** regarding the problems with his truck; the repair worked needed to correct the problems; the scope of work to be performed; and the price of the repairs. Likewise, Mr. ***** statement about him paying for parts and labor is inaccurate. To date, Mr. **** still owes for the majority of the labor costs.

In May 2025, **** **** hired Red Clay Engines to perform certain repairs to his truck. At the time he contacted us, Mr. ***** truck was not drivable, and it was sitting in a repair shop in *********. We traveled to ********* to retrieve Mr. ***** truck. We disclosed the price for retrieving the vehicle; sent him an invoice; he approved and paid the invoice.
When we were able to examine the truck, we discovered that the truck had serious engine problems. Specifically, there were problems with the valves, and there was metal debris in the oil from the trucks cam phaser. We disclosed and discussed the issues with Mr. **** via calls and text messages. We suggested an engine rebuild, but Mr. **** wanted to a temporary fix until he could afford a full engine rebuild. We discussed an agreed scope of work with Mr. **** with the understanding that it would be a temporary fix until he could have a full rebuild done. The initial repair estimate for parts was $2,2130.21. It did not include labor which would be billed later. We agreed to begin the work if he would provide an initial $1,000.00. With the understanding that we were providing a temporary fix, Mr. **** agreed and we began the work. However, while performing the work, we discovered additional problems, such as a cracked piston head. We sent an updated invoice which moved the total estimated cost of the job to approximately $3,900.00. That invoice included an estimated 24 hours of labor. Again, we discussed the engine issues and the costs via text message. Mr. **** wanted us to proceed with the repairs. We installed the agreed upon parts.

After installation, the parts and engine need to undergo a computer based relearning process. While we were performing that relearn, Mr. **** needed to take his vehicle. He took it before the relearn was complete. Later, he informed us that his truck had broken down. Ultimately, we traveled to his location to examine the truck. We were able to determine why it was not starting, and we were able to get it where it was starting. On July 7, 2025 he informed us that the motor had completely seized.

As a courtesy to Mr. ***** we agreed to allow him to pay the balance in installments. The repair work is reflected in three invoices. The first and second invoices covered the costs of the parts needed, and they only included two of the twenty-four hours of labor. The third invoice covered the remaining portion of the labor. To date he has not paid the full balance.
