Our experience with Suburban from a recent renovation was less than ideal. Communication with Rob initially appeared to be on point. Once the project started however, we quickly learned that Rob and Dean (the owner and lead builder of the company) did not communicate. Rob also proved to be quite disorganized and too informal for his professional role in this company. We ran into a few significant miscues right from the beginning and these errors would plagued our project to the end of Suburban's role in it. Admittedly, some of this falls on us as the consumer and we should have ensured the contract explicitly laid out each and every detail of our renovation to our specifications. Unfortunately after detailed conversations with Rob, the ambiguous contract that we signed versus what Dean expected to build/renovate were different both in terms of cost and detail. Allowances were grossly underestimated for the scale of the project. The estimated project was 3 weeks but took 6 weeks for them to complete their work. We wrongly assumed that painting would be part of this renovation quote but found out in week 2 of the project that they did not paint but merely made the space "paint ready". Today our painter spent the day fixing the dry wall that appeared to be done in a hasty fashion before they felt comfortable painting. Our project went well over budget and we feel like we overpaid for the quality of work that we received.
