ON DEC 28, 2023 I went to BAPTIST URGENT CARE on BIRD ROAD because I had chest pain and on my left arm. I had been doing yoga and wanted to be safe that it wasn't serious. They told me I need to go to the ********* could call an ambulance for me. I told them I felt fine & I could drive. They had me sign a waiver and let me go. I drove to the ** at Baptist on ******* DR & told them the same and I just wanted to take precautions. I did blood work & Chest XRAY. I was there for one hour and the doctor came and asked me questions in which I told her I had been doing yoga and was under stress and I wanted to be safe. She told me it was probably muscular and not to worry but to follow up with a Doctor and do a CT Scan in future to be safe. I told her I felt fine and just wanted to be sure the bloodwork didn't indicate I had something serious. I was discharged. 1 month later I received a Bill from Envision with LEVEL 5 (high emergency care) Code ***** for $482.71 (charged my insurance total $1554. Baptist also sent me their bill for $2720 (they charged my insurance $3378.86). I asked for a break down of the Bill they also stated highest state level 5 and added things like pregnancy test which if they asked me ( I was present and well and able to respond) I have not been active therefore would not have been a necessary $178 dollar charge in which the lady from billing told me who cares insurance is paying for it. I told them this is unethical and I would like my bill reviewed and charged appropriately for the services rendered in which they replied the doctor doesn't make mistakes and I need to do a payment plan. They charged me $3207 between ENVISION & BAPTIST and refused to review. My case should have been charged for ***** Level 3 emergency and not needed extra charges just because insurance is paying it. I would like to pay for the services rendered with the correct bill. Hospitals inflating bills and making it difficult for reviewing should be penalized.
