The San Diego Union Tribune is charging for home delivering of their ever-decreasing-in-size-and content newspaper a whopping $224.00 for TWO MONTHS. That subscription rate is utterly ridiculous!!! No newspaper should be charging such an outrageous rate!! I had been on an automatic payment plan (having been a long-time subscriber) and had not paid enough attention to my credit card statement to register this rate. Once I did, I cancelled immediately.Still, I think the public should be made aware of such an outrageous price for this newspaper.I find it shameful that a company would do this.I would give this review no stars, if it were possible.Review from Donna J

I received my last newspaper on February 25th, 2024. I never received my March 3rd paper. I called the newspaper and they said that they did not have enough newspaper carriers to deliver the newspapers. I asked them to please deliver my Sunday newspaper and they said that they would. Unfortunately I had mailed my payment in the mail on March 3, for $37.30. When I still didn't receive my newspaper on Monday (despite their promise that I would) I called and cancelled my subscription, effective March 3rd. I also sent an e-mail to them verifying the information. I received an e-mail from The Union Tribune saying they cancelled my account effective March 10th, and I owed them ~ $12.00. When I hadn't received my refund by this Friday I called again and the man told me that it would take another three weeks, plus whatever days subtracted for weekends. I also found out that if I hadn't called the Union Tribune would never have sent me a refund.Review from BW B

They steal your money but won't ever deliver a single newspaper. They do this all the time according to other reviews and they somehow keep getting away with it. They deserve to go out of businessReview from Becky B

Again, we tried a subscription to the newspaper after having failed deliveries the last time. Unfortunately, the same thing this time. the phone system takes so long to get through and you can only call at certain times daily. We had no paper delivery from April 2023 to August 2023 but we received a bill and past due notices. I filed a complaint online. I called today to dispute the bill, and they claim not to have received the online complaint. After 30 minutes I asked to speak to a supervisor, finally after mentioning the Tribune's poor rating on the BBB, she agreed to credit the account in full and acknowledged the subscription is cancelled. Buyer beware.Review from Ellen B

2 times i have put in for vacation hold and my paper was never stopped! Thank ******** for observant neighbor! I have called to complain and asked for a supervisor to call me back but to no avail. I'd like an explaintion why/how their communiction is not getting to the delivery person and how they plan to resolve it. Customer service is horrible. I'm leaving again and I cant trust my paper will be held so i will be canceling my $69 subscribtion!Review from Robert B

My spouse just received in the US mail an "Acknowledgment of Subscription Terms" for a continuous subscription that WE NEVER requested. This is a very sleazy marketing ploy, or worse, fraud. I called and the customer care person tried to tell us that we agreed to the subscription offer made from someone who knocked on our door. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. We have zero interest in the paper and are even preparing to move out of the city. The San Diego Union-Tribune Response

We're extremely sorry to hear that ****************** stopped receiving his digital eNewspaper but in his review he neglected to mention when exactly this occurred. With review of his account, he did not contact us until October 2022 and he had been notified of the charges that were occurring each month. We would be more than willing to work with ****************** on this issue. The San Diego Union-Tribune Response

Weve had a problem with the union tribune for years in *********. consistently delivered after noon. Ive called over 20 times to complain about the lateness and absolute rude attitude of our delivery person, and told Im not a customer so I cant complain. I AM a customer but you dont offer daily service for us out here so Im not a SUBSCRIBER BUT I AM A CUSTOMER WHO PAYS MORE DAILY FOR MY PAPER THEN SOMEONE OFFERED A SUBSCRIPTION. So the fact that ** continually told Im not a customer is infuriating. Our deliver woman will be rude when late. *** heard her tell an elderly man when he said hes been to the store 4 times to get the paper that he needs to get used to it. If our delivery person has a family engagement our community doesnt receive a paper. This happens a few times a year, she never apologizes, just is horrible to customers. I work for a company and I represent that company. I take pride in representing my company, this woman has delivered papers out here for years, never is a paper here before **** am usually by **** pm. Please please tell you union tribune reps that anyone that buys a paper is a customer and to he told they are not customers over and over and over and that since Im not a customer I cant file a complaint !!! ******************* ***** ** ( where customers arent appreciated)The San Diego Union-Tribune Response

Due to the remoteness of the area and the challenges encountered by the Union Tribune in making the paper available to readers like **************, the decision was made to cease distribution in that area. We appreciate that readers like her find value in the paper and would like to remind them that the digital version of the newspaper is included when they subscribe to a Digital only subscription. Please go to latimes.com/subscribe. Thank you!Review from Denise B

Our paper is not only delivered every day without fail, it's delivered by 5:15 in the morning, which, being early risers, we love! The San Diego Union-Tribune Response

We sincerely appreciate the time taken to commend our Distribution team on their delivery efforts. This information will certainly be passed on. In view of our current workforce shortage and all that's being done to get print delivery back on track this is definitely timely and will be well received. Thanks again!
