Do yourself a favor and DON'T use this firm!. I have never interacted with so many rude, disrespectful, unprofessional, people in all my life. My impression of ********************* is he was very condescending, narcissistic, and unprofessional. He has a very smug disposition without the ability to have a professional conversation. He cuts you off mid sentence. He makes smug remarks and then laughs about what he says as if he is amused by the disrespect he spews and his ability to speak to people anyway he wants. ******************************- Started off fine. She delivers false expectations during the intake process and comes back empty with no progress whatsoever. Her attitude then becomes very unpleasant when she doesn't fulfill the expectation that she was confident that she could provide. Today, I spoke with *********************. She called me a 5:27pm. I'm assuming her day was just about over when she called me. This one was the icing on the cake for me. First, she does not allow the client to speak. She cut me off several times all in the short time span of three minutes. She asked me to explain my issue. As I was explaining, several times she very rudely interrupted me. I asked her if she would allow me to finish what I was trying to say? She then suggested that I hurry up. I calmly explained to her that I will speak at the pace which is comfortable for me. She then hung up on me. Throughout this process, I did not feel they were interested in representing me. I felt as though they were only interested in protecting the opposing party. I hope that my unfortunate set of occurrences with this firm, will encourage you to look elsewhere for legal representation. No one should have to go through this. This goes beyond professionalism. This firm is verbally abusive to the clients they are supposed to serve. Shame on Legal Shield for partnering and connecting their clients with such an abusive firm.

Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC Response

      06/08/2023

Multiple attorneys from our law firm has spoken to ************************* on 15 different occasions regarding this legal matter. We have written demand letters to the opposing party for ********** but she has refused to accept what the opposing party has to offer. Our attorneys have explained her three legal options to the opposing partys response but she refused to accept or acknowledge any of these. She continues to ignore the legal advice of our attorneys and demands an outcome that is not legally supported. ********** has complained about every attorney with our law firm that has attempted to help her with the legal matter. She has been rude, disrespectful and unprofessional with all of our firms employees that she has spoken with during the duration of the legal matter. We have attempted to help ********** resolve this matter but she refuses to accept the legal advice of our attorneys and deems it as abusive since the resolution of this matter does not comply with her desired outcome.

      Customer Response

      06/08/2023

In response to the untruths presented by this firm, I would like to accurately and factually address these comments. It is clear, that based on the response, those who claimed to have given advisement either was not listening when I initiated the matter or simply, as I have stated before, was not interested in representing me. It is also clear that based on this statement, they listened to the opposing parties summation and provided me "advisement" based on that. So, here are the facts:I did speak with two attorneys (preceding my interaction with *******) after calling into the consumer line to share my experience. When I called the consumer line to provide feedback about my interactions with the attorneys, the two ladies that I spoke to (I'm assuming customer relations) were professional, apologetic, and empathetic to what I had experienced. These two ladies (I would refer to as angels on the job) were kind and professional. One even offering personal experiences that she and her family had similar to my experience. For the moment, they were successful in redeeming the firm from the negative experience I had. It does not take much to be kind and courteous; even if you lack the ability to be professional and personable. These two ladies did their job and I appreciate them for their professionalism. It was mentioned that the firm spoke to me 15 times. Regardless of how many times I spoke to a representative from this firm, the approach should always be courteous and professional. Unfortunately, my interaction with ********************* and ********************* was not. To be fair, while I was perplexed with the outcome from ******* she did not present the same behavior as her counterparts. My issue is primarily with them. Therefore, I want to openly say that I appreciate her for differentiating herself from her colleagues (although we did not agree on the result). ******* and I initially discussed our approach prior to presenting the demand letter to the opposing party. She seemed very confident that we would be successful in getting the resolve that the opposing party originally committed to in writing. Unfortunately, the report she came back to me with was not in alignment with what we had discussed. I do believe that in the end she avoided some of my follow-up questions. Never did she present any rude, nor unprofessional behavior. Dismissive? Yes.After my interaction with *******, I was contacted by *********************, As mentioned in my prior review (I won't belabor the encounter), I was met with arrogance, condescending, narcistic, unprofessional behavior.. After that encounter, it was again suggested by the consumer advocates to try another attorney. I agreed. I didn't want to assume that everyone at the firm exhibited the same behavior, so I was willing to give them another try. I was then contacted by ******** Made at 5:27pm. This is where I encountered the abusive behavior. ******** presented a very hostile, combative and abusive disposition by consistently cutting me off as I attempted to speak, she yelled, and even demanded that I would "hurry up" and speak. I told her that I do not communicate like that and I will speak at a pace that is comfortable for me. She then hung up on me; all within three minutes into the conversation. As a result of the combined behavior specifically by ****** and ********, I felt bullied, intimidated, belittled, and attacked. Collectively, they created an abusively hostile environment. As a result of their abuse, I was left again, emotionally abused with no resolution. Finally, I never refused to accept an offer. That is a complete lie. I accepted the initial offer that was presented to me. This is how I initially came in contact the firm. The opposing party attempted to impose stipulations that were not in the contract. ****** said "just because it's not in the contract, doesn't mean they can't do it." It's always been my understanding that you abide by the contract unless there is something else presented in writing that can be added in addition to the language in the contract. Which was indeed the case. I have not ignored any legal advise. In fact, against my better judgement, I forwarded them the documentation from the insurance company giving them the opportunity to continue represent me (against my better judgement). If I ignored their advise, why would I entrust them again and hand over my insurance documents for them to review and once again, hope that this time, I would be successful in at least recovering property damage and relocation on this property or as per the written communication from the Assistant Regional Manager., relocation to our sister property. It is my right, as a customer to complain about something that I am paying for if I am not satisfied with the outcome. Based on their response, I think everyone can now see who the disrespectful, unprofessional, and rude party is in this situation. In regards to the abuse I experienced, that's just it. It was my personal experience. An apology would have been nice in this situation instead of false accusations and lies. I do find it abusive when attorneys ****, consistently interrupt the client, tell the client to hurry up, and ultimately hang up on the client all within three minutes of the phone conversation. That in my view is intimidating and abusive. You do not have to take my word for it. There are many other reviews that clients have shared, very similar to what I have experienced. It seems that there is a very toxic and abusive culture at this firm. Being an attorney should be an honor. However, it does not entitle you to treat people poorly for whatever your personal biases are. You represent a community of people who are counting on you to be fair, professional, and help them find justice when they know they have been wronged. People may not be licensed to practice law for whatever reason. It does not mean that they do not know the law. Sometimes, you are not the smartest person in the room. Being humble is one of the greatest qualities a human can have. Especially, when you have been blessed to serve.
