We have a PM-1440GT and a PM-936TV that we use daily, and it has been a fantastic machine. We did have a problem with a motor capacitor that had gone bad on a Friday, and had jobs lined up to finish that weekend. The one girl who works in sales (************ believe?) went out of her way to ship this part to us after hours, and we had it the next morning so we were able to finish up our jobs. Every once in a while when we call, the person on the phone doesn't seem to be as knowledgeable as some, but we always get to a person who really knows the product they make. I do recommend them, and we will be ordering the same lathe and mill for our new location as soon as it opens.

I purchased a PM-940 mill and a PM-**** lathe from Precision Matthews on May 22, 2021. They were both on backorder with an expected delivery date of two months. My first issue came from the fact they immediately charged the $10,000 **** to my credit card. I called, asking why I was paying for merchandise that wasn't even in the country. I was rudely informed; that if I had wanted to pay twenty percent upfront instead, I should have called to place the order. I accepted this and proceeded to wait for a couple of months before calling back to inquire about my order. Here we must split the stories between the mill and the lathe for simplicity's sake. The Mill: If I had a dollar for every phone call to Precision Matthews to figure out where my purchase was, well, I would have earned my money back for the tools. If I also had a dollar for every incorrect delivery date given, I would have a fortune large enough to make ******************* blush. Numerous times I would call, ask when I could expect delivery, and wouldn't hear a word from Precision Matthews when that date would come and pass. After waiting four months for my two-month delivery, it had finally arrived. My hard-earned money had finally brought a mill to my doorstep. A poorly painted, slightly rusted, minorly damaged mill! When I called to ask about the sub-standard mill I had received, I was basically told, "You should have purchased one of our more expensive ****** *****." Apparently, five thousand dollar ***** shouldn't have decent powder coating that doesn't pop off as soon as you look at it or weird holes in the cast iron. The Lathe:The same issue was present for the delivery of the lathe also, months of fun-filled phone calls with unreliable delivery estimates. My lathe was delivered, I even took the day off to receive it, but to my chagrin, the lathe was demolished during shipping. This lathe looked like ***************************** liver, but on the positive side, I had Precision Matthews' phone number on speed dial by then. I was re-ensured that they would have my replacement in just a couple of weeks. A couple of weeks later, I heard nothing from them, so I called AGAIN. I was informed; that they had the lathe but didn't have the stand to place it on. They also had no idea when they would receive another. I asked if they would upgrade me to a different lathe that was in stock and work with me on the price difference. They did have a larger lathe ready to ship but, they were unwilling to budge a ***** on the price difference, even after the headache they had given me. So I was forced to ask for a refund after four months of waiting and hours of dealing with their complete incompetence. In summary:I won't be purchasing from Precision Matthews again due to all of this. I understand that in recent times, there have been shipping issues in general. That is not an excuse to charge people upfront and then neglect to notify your customers when the expected delivery date has changed. They did the bare minimum in customer service and have done absolutely nothing to make up for this complete nightmare of a purchase. The mill I did receive is cosmetically a disgrace but appears to have passable functionality with some minor repairs. I have learned that there is nothing precise about Precision Matthews.

Sorry you had the trouble that you did. As far as charging in full, that is all automated. For a backorder, we prefer customers to email or call to order so we can just do a 20% Deposit, its noted on the web site where the ETA's are shown. But as far as ETA Right now, worldwide shipping is absolutely insane. There would have been no real issues if the freight company didn't destroy the first machines we sent. It was just a bad transaction overall, not the way I like things to go, that is for sure. One thing though, you said you had us on speed dial and called many many times, but the first call I see from you is Sept 1. So I am a bit confused about that one. You did email once on 6/17 and we replied back right away. Every phone conversation that I listened to seemed just fine, you were very polite, only thing that was a little tense was about the leveling pads on the last call, which you were correct, so he sent you a shipping label. The only thing you had asked about that I can see is the paint around the spindle had flaked, no other contact. So not sure why the review came 2 months later, everything seemed to have been settled. If the mill is not something you are happy with, just contact us so that could be worked out. I understand the frustration though, the shipping company royally screwed up your first machine shipment, and the replacement lathe just kept being later and later, so you decided to cancel and receive a full refund. Sorry things did not work out as planned, trust me, its even more hassle for us, not only did we have to handle this all but now have to file claims with the freight company, back and forth, plus now we lost the sale and have to reply to reviews. Definitely not how we want things to go at all.
