I went to this doctor's ****** on Monday, February 13th, 2023 for a regular wellness exam/woman's physical health check-up. I was informed by my current medical insurance provider (Moda Health through Aetna) that they are in network with this doctor's ****** (Health North Family Medicine LLC) so I figured I wouldn't have any huge out-of-pocket costs after the visit since it was just supposed to be a basic wellness exam (getting blood drawn once, a pap smear, general questions asked about my health.) Both my medical insurance provider and the doctor's ****** front desk staff failed to mention a single word about "tier levels" that can affect how much you owe on your medical bill, and I found out after my visit that this ****** is at a "tier 3" with my insurance provider, which means the lowest amount of coverage possible to my knowledge. This comes off to me as false advertisement because I was told this would be an in network doctor's visit and then I was charged $952.50 for my doctor visit, and still have not been given a receipt showing what this money went towards. Dr. *************** also performed an EKG test on me during this visit without letting me know whether or not this would be covered under my insurance plan. Fast forward to over a month later and I am sent 2 bills in the mail from Quest Diagnostics (relating to this doctor visit) one saying I owe $316.63 (this one says my insurance provider covered no costs for the pap smear and lab testing) and the other saying I owe $52.41 for additional "lab fees." I believe that I am being grossly overcharged for a simple wellness exam and still don't understand why. It doesn't seem like ***************/Health North Family Medicine is in network with Moda Health/Aetna when my out-of-pocket costs are this high. I asked around, and other people have told me that wellness exams are generally only supposed to cost between $100-$200, so what is going on here?
