My wife, daughter and I rented a house through Horizon Properties ****************** at ************************************************ from 2/21/2020-8/15/23. Our lease was terminated by the landlord, and he did not give us a reason, we were told he simply wanted the house back. We honored his wishes and moved out, I spent 3 weeks clearing out the house, hired a moving company to move almost all our large items, and hired ****'s Junk Removal to clear the 10 other large items, as well as *************** to do a deep clean on the house after the move. The house was immaculate, cleaner than when we moved in. I asked for my $2700 deposit back, and I received this letter from Horizon Properties, stating that I OWE money for carpet cleaning (there was 1 large rug which was vacuumed prior to my departure), a hauling estimate (there was nothing left behind), a landscaping estimate (the house has **** square feet of patio space and this is not the tenant's responsibility, we kept the outside patio clean and planted a garden), a cleaning estimate, and an appliance estimate and repairs estimate. This is ridiculous, I have never seen anyone try to just take advantage of a tenant who paid the rent and all charges on time/early for 3 and a half years. I paid the market rate on the house, they raised my rent 12% in 1 month after the ***** protections ended.
