My father passed away and left a small life insurance policy to help with funeral costs, which we did not know about until after his death. Met Life requested the initial information, which was immediately sent to them. His wife had predeceased him, so they told his previous employer to send them our information and that the policy would go to my siblings and me. We sent them all of the information that they requested, including personal information for each one of us. Several weeks later, I got a packet from them, requesting a copy of his wife's death certificate, which I had to purchase from the state. I sent them the document. Several weeks after that, I received another packet, requesting family information, including personal information about us, deeming whether or not there were any other "next of kin." I called MetLife because I was frustrated about the number of requests that we were receiving. I told them that it seemed like they were trying to get out of paying the account and that I needed to know if anything else was to be sent in. They assured me that, once they had the current packet of information, they would not need anything further. Several days ago, I received the check for my portion. I called to let my brothers know that they should be receiving that. My brother called me to tell me that he didn't receive a check--he received a packet for him to fill out!!! If this needed to be filled out by each person, why didn't MetLife send out multiple copies? We could have sent them all back at the same time! Instead, they are postponing payment even longer. In my opinion, this is incredibly unethical. It's as though they are trying to keep their money and are hoping to find at least one or two people in the link who won't fill out the paperwork, so they will get to retain part of the policy. I will never do business with them and I would not recommend them to anybody else.

Metlife is very difficult to work with I have had to fill out 3 different forms to change my beneficary to my 3 sons. I have spoked to customer service representative each time. The 3rd time I spoke to customer service person said I needed to change percentage to equal 100% I changed form #3 to give 2 of my sons 33% and 3rd son to 34%. I did what was requested of me and again for the 4th time they will not except my for instead they want me to fill out another form I **** a single line through the last percentage and adjusted it to what customer service person told me to do. I did many charting notes as a nurse and was told this was legal. Today I spoke to customer service person that told me there was no more persons that were above her that could talk to and she hung up on me. I called back, spoke to another customer service person who allowed me to speak to *********************** supervisor & another super isor ***************** who again told me I had to send another form. I do not know why I am being punished because my husband died and no longer can be my benificary and I want to divide life Insurance equally to my 3 sons. When you divide 3 into 100% it equals 33,333333 I changed it to 33% for 2 of them and 34% to 1 of them as customer service told me to and that person garenteed me that form would be excepted but it was not. I would like whoever makes there rules to let me know why I have to jump so many hoops. I have made my payments on time since early 90's and would like explaination I will send a 4th form which I hope will make them happy. I. I worry if my son will get my money when I die or if they will have to jump though so many forms. This my be why they are not accredited with BBB and moved out of ******** as when I took this policy out it was supposed give me more money if I paid extra but this was illegal and had to turn money into stocks which has caused to decrease value

This company will ask ********** doctors for records over & over . They get ALL the information & then ask again because they dont look through your file I filed my claim in July of 2023 & they repeatedly ask for the same medical records even though they have been sent by my ***************** They are terrible & truly DO NOT care about you just your money, they do not contact you to inform you if they need any documents, you find out when you call to check the status of your claim.don't waste you money here! About a month and a half ago I called MetLife with my mother on the phone to obtain confirmation that her policy had been surrendered. They told me it had been surrendered in 2005, I needed written confirmation which I haven't received after many phone calls, 7 faxes, 9 emails. They are very unresponsive. I have talked to supervisors and everyone in between. I cannot get any response from them, nothing. Their communication and organization are terrible. I am not even asking for any money just a letter that the policy was surrendered.

MetLife Dental is the worst. On a good day, they are merely incompetent; on a bad day, they flat-out lie to you. My dental treatment was delayed for months because I got conflicting and/or incorrect every time I called. They do not cover common procedures (Arestin, extractions); they think that they know better than dental professionals and that people apparently get dental work just for fun. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy.

If you need a false sense of security this is right company to pay. No matter if its accident protection, legal assistance or just covering your income for anything that happens. They send you through the most red tape- asking for all of your business and still just a headache with no help. Contact this company for pain while going through hardship. They say anything out of their mouths with no class.

It was unclear as to the issue *************************** experienced when attempting to use the legal plan. We found that a call was made to our service center on 2/13/24 during which assistance and guidance for using the legal plan was provided. Based on the comments made at the end of that call, *************************** seemed satisfied. No additional requests for help were received.Calls were made by a CSC Supervisor offering assistance and to make sure there were no issues when attempting to use the legal plan. Those calls were placed on 4/18/24, 4/19/24 and 4/22/24. Voice messages were left with the offer to help and the CSC Supervisor's direct contact information. After no response via phone, an email was sent on 4/26/24 advising of the attempted phone calls and an offer to assist. As of 4/29/24 at 1:23 pm EST, no response has been received. At this time we have attempted to assist *************************** and work through this complaint but have not been provided the details of what assistance is needed. MetLife Legal Plans is available to do so at anytime.

I purchased accident insurance from met life. My wife fell off a mobility scooter and broke her foot requiring surgery to repair. They refused to pay the claim because they said her broken foot was the result of an illness not an accident. Falling off a scooter is not an illness. The claim was confusing because she had issues with her other foot, but MetLife simply declined the claim and appeal without calling us to better explain the situation. I sent multiple explanations from my wifes doctor. Worst insurance company ever.

Our dental insurance termed at the end of February, we received paperwork to enroll in ***** and I signed up with the ***** vendor and paid the premium for our children to have coverage for the month of March on 3/12/24 due to ongoing orthodontic treatment. The vendor sent the enrollment information to MetLife on 3/13/24 and advised that it can take the carrier up to 14 business days to update the eligibility in their own systems. Fine, I waited. As of today, MetLife states they show my children termed on 2/28/24. I have made multiple phone calls to the ***** vendor and to MetLife. The ***** vendor has stated they submitted the enrollment information to MetLife, MetLife reps send me back to the ***** vendor. I have done my part, the ***** vendor did their part, MetLife refuses to do theirs! The orthodontist has claims that need to be submitted for the month of March and cannot do so because MetLife wont update their system to reflect the correct eligibility. I was transferred to their eligibility department yesterday while also conferenced with the ***** vendor that the MetLife rep called out to, was told I could not stay on the line due to security concerns, but was assured the eligibility would be resolved by end of day yesterday. I called today, and guess what? It was not, shocker. ******* stated they had no record of my phone call yesterday and said they cannot make conference calls out to the vendor. I reached back out to the ***** vendor who stated the per the previous ***** reps notes, the MetLife eligibility rep hung up before even taking care of anything! The vendor offers suggestions and solutions to try to get this resolved, while MetLife offers nothing! I am giving it another week like the vendor suggested after they stated they will send an urgent update to MetLife. This has been an absolute nightmare and I have no idea what else to do if MetLife still doesnt update their system.

I have been. On STD with MetLife since November I have only spoken with my agent twice. The first time was when I demanded to speak with a manager or someone because it was past 3 weeks and still hadn't received anything. I asked not to have her call me but no else did but her. Then I spoke with her about 5 weeks ago for her to tell me they needed more information about my STD because in May it would have to be made into Long Term Disability. That's is a whole other month away and now it's going on four weeks with no money no information no call backs after calling and asking for one day after day. I'm not sure but I believe that wouldn't act so smug if they had children at home they couldn't hardly feed and begging for bill money
