            BBB is alerting consumers that this legitimate company, First Financial Credit Union, has had their website spoofed by unknown persons. The fake website looks almost identical to that of First Financial and uses the same name. The fake website is offering personal loans. One consumer reported to BBB that she was told the company needed to do a "test deposit" into her account and the consumer should immediately send a payment for that amount to show good faith. In another complaint, the consumer was told she needed to pay several hundred dollars as "insurance" for the loan. In neither case did the consumer receive the loan and in the first case, the checks initially written to the consumer bounced. Both consumers are out several hundred dollars. BBB reminds consumers that a legitimate loan offer will never require the consumer to make an upfront payment.

            First Financial Credit Union has no connection and is not affiliated with the website and the loans offered by First Financial Credit.  Consumers who have sent money to the fake website for loans can click First Financial Credit to view the BBB Business Review and file a complaint.

              My complaint is a payment I made which was never credited to my account. I applied for a credit card through First Financial Credit Union on September 26, 2022. Received Visa card on October 11, 2022 I used the Visa card up to October 13, 2023. I misplaced the Visa card so I reported it and it was closed. Around their this time I received a letter telling me the visa card will be closed since they were switching to master card.

              First Financial Credit Union had a substantial breech of customer data a couple of years ago, yet as a long-term member I can tell you they never reached out by email, text, snail mail, phone call, telepathy, etc. to tell members what info. was and was not compromised. They simply offered free credit monitoring, which is free anyway. Fast forward a couple of years. Big hoopla around sending out new swipe reader debit cards to all members, regardless of whether a member wants it or does not. All these reminders "it's coming in August", and memos-"oh, it's almost there". Wish there'd been such a fountain of comm. with the cyber breech, but no, they just took the "let's pretend it didn't happen" stance and went back to work bulking manager bonuses.Despite such a massive security breech in recent memory, this credit union mailed out the new debit cards in the SAME mailing as the passwords! It really can't be more of bite to the hand that feeds you! What A-holes! Definitely heading down the same path as ********************************* Union...must've hired some of their .com MBAs to run them into the ground. ***.

              Thank you for your feedback. I do apologize that you did not receive the information regarding the breach. FFCU did send communication concerning the type of data involved in the breach. What we disclosed was in accordance with legal requirements provided to us. This included posting a notice on our website, notifying media outlets and notifying members in hard copy format, where required. Regarding the debit card re-issue, this re-issue was a requirement by Mastercard as part of their bin expansion rollout. FFCU decided to implement the contactless functionality as a way to lessen the pain of the required re-issue. We did mail the card and pin 2 days apart and in different envelopes. This is the normal industry standard. What we did not foresee was that the **** does not always deliver mail daily. Therefore, in a few situations (less than 1%) we found that the pieces were arriving at the same time. Something we will address differently should we ever need to re-issue cards again.
