I contacted Tree Doctor 911 (TD911) in late summer 2018 to assess our aspen trees as they looked unhealthy. After several calls an inspection was scheduled for August 8, 2018. TD911 determined that our “trees are all fungal” and recommended a fungicide and chelate treatment with their proprietary fungicide and chelated activator agent. At the time we had a total of 21 aspen trees in 15 locations, with 3 trees beyond treating. The 18 trees were treated in March 2019 with TD911’s fungicide for a total of $1,153.

I contacted TD911 again in late summer 2020 as several of the treated aspens again looked unhealthy. After many calls and missed appointments, their technician inspected the trees on November 9, 2020, and determined that several could not be saved but 11 could with an additional treatment of their fungicide and chelated activator which would cost $3,000+. I asked about the previous warranty and the technician said it was only a 6-month warranty and it had expired. Prior to deciding to proceed with the recommended treatment, I asked many questions, including the warranty, if this would be the last treatment, and if the treatment would be successful in curing our trees. The technician stated unequivocally that it would be the last treatment and the trees would survive, and that he would cut the cost of treatment, waive the trip charge, and the assessment fee as a gesture of good will related to the previous expired warranty.

TD 911 treated the 11 surviving trees on November 9, 2020. Prior to the 6-month warranty expiring, I contacted TD 911 once again in March 2021 because several of the trees looked unhealthy. After many calls and missed appointments, TD 911 scheduled a site inspection for April 8, 2021. The technician failed to arrive at the time of the appointment which wasn’t unusual, so I txt him and asked if he was planning to come out. He responded that he did not have it on his schedule, and I needed to re-schedule with the front office which I did. When I called to re-schedule the appointment, the front office informed me that the 6-month warranty expired on May 9, 2021, and I would have to pay a $90 a trip fee. I called back to inform the front office that I called well before May 9, 2021, to have their technician compete an inspection at which time they directed me to the owner. I called the owner, he waived the fee, and the front office scheduled a site visit for May 19th. The technician did not show up on May 19th so I txt him, and he said he was held up and would be out in an hour or so. He txt back a few minutes later and informed me that I would have to pay a trip charge of $90. I told him that the owner had waived the fee and he said he’d check with him and call me back. I txt the technician back and he finally responded saying he was unable to contact the owner and would not come out. I called the owner and left a voicemail that same day and he returned my call and left a voicemail stating that; 1) “It’s been a long time, he got me confused with someone else, and was busy with another project”, when we talked and he waived the trip fee, 2) TD 911 does not have a warranty on aspens but have an 85% success rate, 3) the trip charge is always charged, and 4) wished me good luck with whomever I found to take care of our trees.

Currently, we only have 9 aspen trees (one which appears ¾ dead and several with a limited number of leaves) that have survived out of 21 after several treatments at a cost of $4,153. This represents a survival rate of 43% (and much less if several unhealthy trees die), which is well below the owners stated success rate of 85%. TD911’s technician provided erroneous information on TD911’s ability to cure our trees which we used in our decision process to proceed with the second treatment. If TD911’s technician would have been honest, we would have passed on the second treatment and saved $3,000.

I contacted several tree care companies in the area and this was the only one able to fix my trees. Before contacting tree doctor 911, I didn't really get the results I expected. My trees were half dead, but after they treated my trees, they came back better than they have in years. I would highly recommend this company if you have sick or dying trees that need saved. Professional approach and courteous.
