We are requesting assistance from BBB to help resolve a conflict with Lizard King LLC (LK hereafter). We contacted LK in Dec 19 and were impressed with their quick response. Though initially COVID slowed progress, in Jul 20 we were assured construction would be quick once drawings and permits were completed, so we paid $2500 as a deposit. We were patient because when we repeatedly asked LK, they continually reassured us our addition was still on their docket. When we met to review the completed plans, we were again promised that all of the issues were minor and our job was set to begin Mar 21, so we decided not look elsewhere. But, in Mar 21 they delayed our start-date by another 5 months. Every time we contacted LK, they falsely lead us to believe our start-date was imminent. Then, 18 months after paying the deposit, and 8 months after making edits, the plans were finally supposedly completed in Jan 22. However while reviewing them, we found LK made none of our edits, though their excuse was simply that the architect didn't do them. After several more rounds of correspondence in Mar 22, they unexpectedly complained our job was too difficult. We respectfully offered for them to withdraw, or do a much simpler addition; they declined both. Now, with spurious justification that it was always too hard of a project, they are denying to return any of our deposit. However, we are attaching some of our evidence showing their current excuses were fully known to them at the time they accepted our payment. Needless to say, LK should have been forthcoming that they were not interested in our job. Instead, they ensnared us, mislead us about how soon our project would start, and made us feel they were efficiently using our money, despite their fraudulent intentions. We would like our $2500 deposit returned because of LK's incompetence, their repeated, prolonged lies, and how all of this has now made our addition an impossibility. Thank you for your help.
