Worst experience ever. Too bad there are negative star ratings. The work was not performed within a promised timeline. The agreed upon work was not completed. We contracted to install new windows, siding and door. He gave promised start dates which he didn't come close to meeting. He was supposed to start in September or October. He blamed in on siding not in but the ony thing that was missing were vents and we said start with out them we can keep old ones. Ended up vents he ordered were wrong anyway. Then he gave a date of end of October. Didn't actually start until beginning of December. He kept telling us that the siding guy was not responding. The siding guy said he was never called. Our siding was removed December 9 and 10. We had rotted wood behind a meter he said his electrician said we needed to upgrade our service because we were doing work and would be $6,000. We called a local electrician and he said no, you only need to upgrade if you are changing or improving, this is a repair. the actual cost $463. No further work was performed until December 17, which was the wood repair. In addition, he wants to charge for everything. If he has to bring something to your project or return materials, he bills for his time. To me that is part of his job and what was already paid for.All our windows are same size with same size opening, they put one window in then claimed could not install them because they did not fit. We contacted the city and the city said they were fine to put in. He wanted to talk with city. Fine. His workers were supposed to be out to do work and claimed a worker went in the ditch so would not be there but the inspector was supposed to be out to inspect work that day. He said his worker may have canceled since he went in ditch. We called city while he was there, they informed us the inspection had been canceled in day(s) prior but not that same day. Our interpretation, they had no intention of doing any work that day. We ended up contacting an attorney and sending him a demand letter to get work done by mid-January he then said nope since we threatened legal action he is doing no more work. What he wanted to do was pay himself in full for all the product and leave us with the pile to find someone else to the work. He ends up making easy money by ordering product and skipping on the job. We enforced the contract and his siding guy did the siding. 1 person siding an entire house himself took 3.5 weeks. We ended up installing our own windows. All the windows we installed passed inspection. The window his "professionals" installed failed inspection and we had to correct it. He didn't order enough siding receptacles for light fixtures and water spickets. He just said it will delay the project 6 weeks to get. We called and went in and picked them up from his supplier same day. He does nothing for service for the client. It is what is in the best interest of him. We had to find someone else to install the door too. We were told he had dumped doors on other customers in the past, ordering them and refusing to install. He talks down to you, belittles you and does exactly the opposite of what you ask. e.g. we said we wanted no work Christmas week. he scheduled for them to tear up my dining room wall the week of Christmas to install two new windows. Even for the two new windows he was adding supports to the basement to support the windows. The inspector said that is not necessary because the windows were small. Those are only required for larger picture windows. Those windows ended up not even getting done. Again, money that would have been charged that was not necessary. Even with all that said this isn't everything.

    Atlas Remodelers, LLC Response

    03/05/2023

.While we appreciate all customer feedback, which allows us to continue to provide the highest level of quality and service, we feel its important to address the inaccuracies and misrepresentations in this particular customer's allegations. We pride ourselves on our integrity and customer satisfaction, and we believe that these accusations are unfounded and retaliatory. We provided this customer with an estimate in May of 2020, but they hired another contractor, only to terminate that contract and then hired us in July. We reiterated that any proposed start/completion dates were only estimates based on many factors and that their chosen siding and materials would increase lead times and that industry-wide delays due to the pandemic were also at play. Unfortunately, the customer still had unrealistic expectations and demands. In October, the customer became angry that work had not started, despite the siding still being on backorder from the manufacturer. When most of the materials arrived in late November, the customer was upset that we could not start because not all materials were delivered at the same time. They proposed purchasing some materials from a big box store in order to expedite the process, but after explaining that they would be of lower quality and wouldnt match their custom siding, they decided that waiting for their order was the better option. The customer created further delays by refusing to allow work when they felt it was inconvenient. Removal of the old siding revealed preexisting damage and electrical is***s that needed to be addressed. We consulted a licensed electrician who provided an estimate, but the customer hired a different electrician who apparently charged them less, and to our knowledge, did not get any inspections to verify the code compliance. The customer ordered windows from a different company, which did its own measurements. Unfortunately, the measurements were incorrect and the windows did not fit properly to our requirements and standards. Therefore, we were not willing to install the ill-fitting windows and we did not bill the customer for any labor charges. When the customer threatened to *** us and each crew member individually unless work was completed within 9 business days, our crew refused to continue working at their property and our attorney advised us to cancel the contract immediately. However, we were reluctant to leave the partially-sided home vulnerable to possible damage. The only subcontractor willing to finish the work charged considerably more than the original cost, and as a goodwill effort to get the work done, we did not charge the customer for the difference. We notified the customer that their contract would be terminated as soon as it was installed. The customer was only charged for work that was actually done, per their contract, and for the materials that were installed or that were in their possession. We made every effort to work with this customer, and regret that we were unable to complete this project or to be able to mediate a solution.

    Customer Response

Addressing discrepancies in his response All our communications were with the owner. When we signed the contract he assured us our work would be done prior to winter because he doesnt like working in the cold it isnt good for the materials. Even the sider said when its too cold the vinyl siding breaks. We had conversation about the so-called materials not in and the only missing items were dryer vent and another vent (all other materials were in). We said just leave the metal ones we have we don't need new ones. In the end some of the vents he ordered were the wrong size anyway and we ended up having to keep our original ones. In September, he stated we were his next project and the initial date we were provided was the last week of October to first week of November. He provided us this notice by email. This date passed at which time he stated he had no workers. Then he contacted us on November 23 to state he was commencing work December 5 or 7 removing the siding and installing the windows, with the ****** returning the week of December 14, to put the siding on the house. He said the ****** may not start on exactly the 14h but will that week. The siding was removed December 9 and 10. He blamed the delay of the start on the project on the ****** because they were ghosting him. When the sider was here, it is the same person he told us from the beginning that would be doing the work, The sider told us that he had just been contacted a three days prior to that to do this work because someone else was not able to do this job. The preexisting damage he referred to was water damaged wood. There were no electrical issues just that the electrical box had to be removed from the house to replace the damaged wood. He did no further work was performed until the wood repair on December 17. We ended up getting the repair completed because his company wanted to charge $6,000 since he said we had to do a complete rewire. We found that it wasnt true because it was a repair and not due to a remodel and we hired a reputable electrician to complete the work which only ended up being $450. We had the electrician here coordinating with him when he could have his guy here to replace the wood. His workers only worked two other days for three hours each day December 21, in which they removed the interior window trim and unsecured three windows. December 22, they installed one window and left. The only time we put ANY request for limiting their work was they wanted to come the week of Christmas to tear out my dining room wall. Really, a delay this long and then for the holiday want to do construction on my dining room? They had extra expense added to our project to add supports in the basement to put in two windows in the dining room which were average sized windows. The inspector said that was unnecessary work because only large picture windows needed added support they proposed. The regular windows that we had only needed the standard headers. The windows we purchased were professionally measured prior to purchase. He was claiming that the windows did not fit which per the ****** inspector they did. His workers had installed one window and all our windows were the same size and same size openings so how do they do one window but the rest not fit? When he arrived on December 30, he measured the windows and stated that the worker went in the ditch and may not make it. He wanted the inspector to look at the window to ensure fit and we stated that they could look at it since they would be here that day. He stated that the inspection may have been canceled since his worker was in the ditch and he canceled him on his way to our home. We contacted the city while he was on site to find that the inspector was not cancelled that day but prior to December 30, and they would not be coming. In our opinion, his worker had no intention of being there at day. We caught him in this lie. I have that on recording.Due to what we felt was deception, we terminated the window portion of the project. We ended up installing our own windows aside from the one his workers did. We had the windows inspected prior to siding the house and the window his workers put in did not pass inspection, we had to correct it and all the windows we put in passed inspection the first inspection. The final work to be completed was install the front door and put our siding back on. He was refusing to do the work because since we sent him a letter threatening legal action for lack of work, he said he would not do any work on our property. He said his attorney told him not to. We told him he was under contract and needed to get our siding complete. We contacted the place he got our door from and were told he this is the third time he ordered a door from them and wouldnt install it.It was NOT that he was reluctant to leave our house incomplete. We demanded he complete it and reminded him he was under contract and we were holding him to completing the siding and will take whatever action needed. I also have this on recording. It was not a different subcontractor to complete the siding, he had the same person who took the siding off put it back on and it took him three weeks because it was only the one guy siding the entire house by himself. We began fairly early on recording all our conversations with him because we found several untruths.
