Transaction date was 11/14/2022 in the amount of $457. I was referred to Metropolitan Periodontists by my general dentist for a consultation. My general dentist provided the referral reason and x-ray up front. While making my appointment I was told that a consultation is around $130. I arrived at my consultation and upon going into my exam, the first thing they had me do was a scan of my teeth. The dental assistant nonchalantly told me that a scan was needed without mentioning cost or that it was outside the normal scope of a consultation. Being this was the first thing they had me do I felt it was quite common and an expected portion of the consultation. After that I met with the dentist and finished my consultation. Upon checking out, I was informed that the scan was $335 leaving my total bill for the consultation at $457. I feel this is an exorbitant charge and is deceiving. This scan was already planned and built into the process so the cost could have been communicated to me at the time of making the appointment or at the very least before they told me to do the scan. I attempted to resolve this directly with Metropolitan Periodontists; however, I was advised that there was nothing they could do since they discounted the procedure that they recommended for me. Again, I feel this is deceptive because I would need to go with them for the procedure in order to see any benefit from the exorbitant cost of the scan. I am very disappointed in this office not being up front with me. I file this complaint so that other consumers are aware of this practice. My desired resolution is the refund of just the scan portion of the bill.
