If I could leave zero stars I would! I have dealt with them for many years with no solutions. Today, I get a notification from Credit Karma stating that they marked my account 30 days overdue; however, the payment was due on Dec. 31st and today is the 11th of January...pretty sure that's not 30 days! I have called in the past and was treated VERY rudely with no options for repayment. I even tried filing bankruptcy years ago only to have them deny it. They will not allow me to add them to my other federal student loans for consolidation, and when I did my research, I learned that my DEAL loan is a loan for a term of ten years; however, this loan is now nearly 16 years old and what began as a small loan has now ballooned into a HUGE loan of over 10k. If I wasn't able to pay the small amount, how can I pay this amount?? They don't seem to care though. I am also disabled and can only work part-time - when I mention this they seem to think I planned it that way - which is absurd! I have even asked to speak with the Ombudsman, whom I got connected to and left a voicemail message...with no response. I think they are scammers and I am going to seek out legal counsel because this is harassment. They are deceitful and dishonest, not to mention rude and condescending. They don't want to help you, they only want to scam you so they can make money off of your debt!

      Bank of North Dakota Response

      01/17/2023

I have sent return-receipt letters voicing my "displeasure towards how I was treated" when I call customer service at BND; however, no one ever responds. I am reaching out to an advocate on my behalf as phone calls are very difficult for me - especially when I'm treated so poorly. I have received a voicemail message from the most recent phone call, but I will not return that call unless I can record it myself and have someone (an advocate) present to ensure my needs are met. Even this response is highly gaslighting to someone who is trying but really struggling - but they find strength in their position and perhaps do not realize the condescending manner of their correspondence.

I have contacted them regarding my loans many times gotten the run around with 0 options for income based payments. They then didn't contact me for years. No calls, no emails, no letters as I paid what I could suddenly a debt collector sent me paperwork.
