    Complaint Type:
    Service or Repair Issues
    Status:
    Answered
On January 20th, 2023 I dropped my GMC Sierra offer at Dave Cross Motors for a scheduled service. My driver's side door electrical was not working (window controls, door sensor etc.) I had this same issue "fixed" at the same dealership on March 18th, 2021 and paid $159.95 for the service. When I dropped my vehicle off for service, I mentioned to the service rep, *******, that there were a couple of other things I wanted to have checked out. Later that evening, ******* called me back with the diagnosis which amounted in $4,952.33 worth of repairs. I asked ******* to send me a detailed report so I could make some decision on what I wanted to do. I left my vehicle at the dealership until Tuesday the 24th while I checked around at some other shops to see if I could get a better price. When I went to pick up my vehicle on Tuesday, I was charged $200 for the diagnostics check. When I got home, I found the receipts for the work I had previously had done at this dealership. Come to find out, they were the EXACT same repairs they diagnosed on this most recent visit! I drove back up to the dealership to show the service rep these receipts and he acknowledged they were in fact the same repairs that were now being recommended again. He told me he would have his manager call me to discuss a resolution. The service manager never called me and when I did finally get ahold of her, she told me that their technician misdiagnosed some things and some of the other things were out of warranty (these are parts that should last 60K miles plus e.g. axel seals and rotors). I now don't know what to trust (does my car need repairs or not?), I am out several hundred dollars with the same issues I had before, and the dealership refuses to refund me for the work that apparently wasn't done (or wasn't done well) the first time. I am requesting a refund so I can take my vehicle to another shop as I no longer can trust this dealership.

My experience equal zero stars for the predatory repeated practices by this service department. My experience with this dealership service department has been beyond the worse. Reading the other reviews confirmed my thoughts that they have inexperienced technicians, do not care about the customers and intentionally prey on inexperienced customers. I too brought my vehicle here seeking guidance due to complications with my vehicle. I also was misdiagnose after originally requesting a diagnosis check to determine the cause of the issues I was experiencing. I spent $2500 only to pick the vehicle up and experience worse problems than before including a check engine light. To then return the vehicle get another diagnosis that was not apart of the original diagnosis. Then to have my vehicle sit on their lot for two months. Meanwhile I believed repairs were underway to later learn no repairs had been completed or even started. Although the last conversation with the service department was authorizing completion of the work because I need my vehicle. Then to get a call a week later the day before pick up $480 more repair work needed to be completed. I agree to that work and then the day of pick up the following week again another call now an additional $1900 - $2500 more repairs need to be completed. Based on other reviews I’m not alone in this. It appears to me this is the common practice for this service department. They misdiagnosed your vehicle repairs causing further damage and or worsen the problem then charge you to fix it with no compensation for their negligence or lack of knowledge. I have also experienced horrific customer service from Dave Cross and Kerri who are the leadership of this service department. This is disgusting that a business would continue to operate with these unfair practices and treatment of their customers for years without any recourse. There has to be laws again predatory auto service departments like Dave Cross Motors.

    Dave Cross Buick GMC Response

This client is everyone's nightmare. Well-practiced at the art of complaint. We want to help her. She told me yesterday she hired council, so we will let them handle this.

    Customer Response

Dave R**** the President called me yesterday and exemplified his continued predatory behavior towards his customers via a recorded call where he shouted “Come Get my Car and Get Out”. This was his first statement after I answered the phone and said Hello. Dave Cross Motors service center is the true nightmare but not just for me but for many customers. They have over 50 review complaints across multiple websites from different customers with similar stories as mine. This is definitely a common predatory practice for Dave Cross Motors. They never attempted to help me or accept responsibility for their technician misdiagnosis which resulted in more expenses for me as the customer and more repairs. However, this was expected based on the other consumer complaints. Dave Cross common response just like their response to this complaint is to attack the customer, talk negatively about the customer and be very rude towards the customer and make it somehow the customer fault. What Dave Cross Motors Service Dept behavior implies that as consumers we should not trust service departments to be knowledgeable or be experts when it comes to auto repairs. When we bring our vehicle to these GMC service departments it’s at own risk. We should not expect them to be honest, give accurate diagnosis, complete authorized and necessary repairs in a timely manner within standard market prices and in good faith. Again, this is not just my experience with this service department this appears to be their common practice. Dave R**** yesterday after calling me was very rude towards me, shouted Get Out and made threats towards me indicating he was calling the state. Then actually ended the call by stating to contact my counsel because I advised I spoke with an attorney. He also stated if I called their business again that he would file harassment against me and disconnected the call before I could rebut. That’s him wanting to help me? How Ironic!
