Complaint Unhappy with water quality. Have been a customer since 1998, and hard water has been an issue this entire time. I have been a resident of **** **** ******* since 1998, and have been unhappy with the quality of the water provided by Thorpe Water Development Company located in Ankeny IA. The water is inferior to water in the Des Moines and surrounding areas. I expressed my unhappiness 16 years ago, and nothing has changed. The water is hard, and I do not understand why this cannot be treated as the other cities are. Currently, I am experiencing an overwhelming taste of chorine from the tap water. I ask that you respond and resolve these problems. My next plan is to contact the owner of this mobile home park to come to a resolution if nothing changes. Thank you.
Desired Settlement I am merely requesting a resolution to the problem of hard water and chlorine taste in the water. Not only for myself, but for all residents of this mobile home park.
Business Response Contact Name and Title: *** ** ****** Pres. Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX Contact Email: ***@thorpewater.com Thorpe water manages the ******** ******* MHP water system per the Iowa DNR rules. We also own and operate the ***** ******* water system which supplies water to the MHP. We must follow the rules and regulations of the EPA and Iowa DNR for the water systems. The water source was changed to the City of Grimes back in 2007 from the well system owned by ***** **** The water currently meets all Safe Drinking Water requirements. The high chlorine is required by the DNR for the type of treatment the City of Grimes does. I asked my office staff if Ms.******** has called our office in the past and neither of the two could every remember talking to her personally, both office staff have been here over 16 years. We do what to provide safe water. Soft water is a personal choice, we do not treat the water from Grimes any further for hardest or chlorine. We are a " consecutive supply" from Grimes just as ******** is a consecutive supply" from ***** **** or Thorpe Water. Grimes does soften the water but apparently not enough to the satisfaction of Ms. ********. We can send out personnel to check the chlorine levels and hardest, but have no means to change either one. Thank you.
