While apartment hunting, I wanted to see a unit to which on the website said it was coming available in a few days. I asked to see it and the leasing manager informed me that it already had a hold on it and it was unavailable. I then felt coerced by this leasing agent to put down a $200 deposit ($206.95 after fees) just to be able to SEE a unit because they "went quickly".The leasing manager then proceeded to tell me they had another one coming up but I should put a deposit down so I didn't miss out. Feeling pressured, I submitted the money after filling out the application on my phone - unaware that I only had 72 hours to send a "written response" requesting my money back. The leasing manager didnt make this known to me and she waited until after I submitted the money to inform me then that I couldn't see it right away -- but she would "keep in touch" and let me know.I called regularly for news and finally - after the 72 hours were passed and the money was safely in their pocket -- suddenly I was able to see this unit.My dispute with this company is in regard to their poor ethical practices and how they hide behind their policies and use small print to get away with keeping money from potential tenants then ask that we give them another $200 to see another unit if it's past a week.I did not include it but I have the bank statement from when they pulled the money then waited well over ********************** so I could see the unit. I have also sent the emails with further details between me and the dismissive regional manager.Thank you for taking the time to read this dispute. While I can normally respect policy - it's unethical for them to get away with this - it's pocketing free money to fund their business while potential tenants suffer if their units aren't ready or aren't up to expectation. $200 is a lot of money to some people, especially in this economy and I would hate to see anyone else cheated or treated this way.

Please don't rent from these unethical landlords. My son, a new teacher in his first year of employment, began a lease in an apartment complex owned by Renewing Management (the company that owns these apartments, too) here in July 2023. All was fine until one night, a single, inside pane of his sliding glass door shattered (in the middle of the night when he was sleeping--weird but probably related to rapid temperature change, according to ********* The maintenance ***** fixed the problem within several days, but the Property Manager and the Regional Supervisor (********************* of Renewing Management, INC.) charged him $817 for the cost of replacement for the door, stating that the lease says that the tenant is responsible to pay for "anything that breaks inside your apartment." The fair housing lawyer he sought out told him that Renewing Management *** has an unlawful clause in their lease agreement; so that they can demand payment from renters for ANYTHING that happens to the apartment itself (damage from wind, floods, temperature changes, etc.). Because my son disputed the charges, Renewing Management slapped a late fee onto his bill. Then, they took payment for the glass door OUT OF HIS NORMAL RENT PAYMENT, putting him behind in his rent payments even though he was paying those in full. Unfortunately, he has no recourse except small claims court (expensive and time-consuming!). I am hoping word of mouth damages this wildly unethical company-our only real recourse. According to their website, this company claims to be a ***************** that sees "streams of healing for our residents and employees" rather than seeing rentals as streams of income. Don't be fooled. This company will do ANYTHING to get more income streams. Avoid this Property and any property managed by Renewing Management, INC.
