My physician recommended VirtuOx as a solution for obtaining an at home sleep study. I was told that VirtuOx would check with my insurance regarding my coverage being in network. I never received correspondence from my insurer, nor VirtuOx regarding my insurance coverage for the test. I received the initial test which came back as inconclusive recommending a stepped up at EEG home test. I again did not receive any correspondence regarding costs for this test, I just received the test. Weeks later I received this bill in the mail notating that virtuox was an out of network provider and therefore my previously met out of pocket maximum which I had already satisfied with my insurance for the year was not applicable, and I would be responsible for the entirety of the out of network portion. I have reached out to both the billing company and virtuox who have claimed that in the packet I received it states that it is my responsibility to check with my insurance prior to taking the test, even though I had already received the test and it recommended that I take it immediately and return it. Not only was this deceptive, the results were inconclusive on both tests. Had I known at any point that this test would have been out of network, I would have not used this company, let alone completed the more expensive test at their recommendation.
