      Go elsewhere! I have bought multiple contracts through other providers, who all magically seem to be bought out by Discount Power (DP) over the life of the contract (ex. ***** ****** ********** ******, etc.), and also had Discount Power directly. As such, have plenty of experience with DP, as well as other providers, as the owner of several units in TX. I switched from DP to another company. I had a surplus on my account (~$850) as I prepay my bills to ensure I am not late. I checked the account online, and then called DP. DP then proceeded to lock me out of the online account permanently, stating that it was an old account so I shouldn't have access anymore (whereas, I had access to it right before I called). I had to argue and request a manager to get on the phone and speak at length before I got their word that they would send me a check with the balance. When I asked what happened to my security deposit, the manager said that he didn't know about that and another team would need to look into it and get back to me within a few days. It's been over a month and not a single reply back on the subject. It will likely take at least another month of following up to get anywhere with getting my $400 security deposit back, paid to my original power company that was acquired. Their technology is inadequate. If you have more than 1 account with them, whether it is having multiple units, or having service with them in the past and restarting it after a break, you cannot use the same log-in. Every account number needs a new unique user name and email address to log in. Start creating new junk emails and having to remember all your different user names and passwords for DP - unlike other companies who will just show you all your accounts, using 1 access credential. Additionally, the customer service representative across all departments leave much to be desired. They frequently say things that are not accurate or communicated well. Overall, AVOID!

      I contacted the number provided and spoke to 2 agents. The first one, Sigfried, gave me clearly inaccurate information (told me that a security deposit wouldn't be refunded until 13 months had passed from providing it, despite having canceled the service over 4 months ago. Asked to speak with a manager, was connected with Laura who stated that it would take 1-2 billing cycles for the investigation into the security deposit to complete.

      Do NOT use this company. I had automatic payments with the previous company and never had an issue. Once this company took over, the nightmare started. They will not allow me to use my debit or credit card. They want my bank information. I have called and spoken with people and they will not take my card over the phone. They also charged me over $100 more from a previous month when my electricity was out for a week due to a hurricaine. Their response was it was an estimate not an actual meter read. So how many times have you done this because my bbills just keep trending up. I have yet to hear back on the over charge and have asked for a supervisor. My bill is now past due and they are still refusing to take a debit card. I don't have time to keep waiting on the phone. We are a military family and my husbband is out of the country, my mother just had open heart surgery. I don't have time to chase people to pay a bill. You can never talk with anyone in the states or get anyone in their corperate office. I will be paying the fee to get out of this contract- like someone else said, this is a scam. Their customer service number gets you nowhere.

      Discount apparently bought out previous provider that I been with for 2 years. I had automatic payments set up and didn't notice that my account hadn't been debited for a couple months. I had gotten notices from "Discount Power" but the name sounded like a scam, and so did the fact they were asking for payment to get re-established. Until they disconnected power. Turns out that they moved me onto a high rate plan instead of a "discount power" plan, so I owe at least double what my bills were last year, plus they wouldn't waive late fees when I explained the issue. Turns out I was right - they are a SCAM!

      I was a ****** ***** customer. ****** ***** was bought out by Discount Power. I had no say in the matter. For convenience, I decided to combine all of my residences into one account with one electric company. Needless to say I have spent over three weeks and countless hours haggling with Discount Power over trying to get my account activated because they are unable to verify my identity. They have been sent multiple emails with my identification which I can prove through my printed emails. I have questioned why this is necessary since I am an already established customer in good standing. They are unwilling to waiver and willing to lose a customer over this nonsense. In addition, they are not willing to activate my contract to the initial date of contact leaving me with a variable rate electric bill for the past three weeks! Customer service is not a priority here! If I could give zero stars I would.

      We had ****** ****** before they were purchased by Discount Power. We then stopped receiving emailed bills and we would have to call to get our bill. After 2 months of this we had to switch back to paper cause they were trying to charge late fees. When we bought a new house and transferred service they didn’t shutdown the old house till after the date we said and they never transferred service. So the power got shut off and all our food went bad from being in a hot house all day. When I called to get this resolved the manager wants to charge me a higher rate than I had before until they get it sorted out. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I will be following up with someone higher up at the company since this is unacceptable. This company is a joke they couldn’t even get power back on till next day. So in total we have about 150 in bad food plus hotel for the night.

      I TRIED TO ENROLL WITH A CREDIT RATING OF 850. My reporting services were frozen because of scammers. Instead of asking me to unfreeze my credit report, I was asked for proof of identification which I sent. I was then sent a letter requesting a deposit. I never sent a deposit or a letter from my former energy provider. I found out through another source that Discount Power (U.S. Retailers LLC.) had already enrolled me WITHOUT telling me. This company operates poorly in my estimation!

      I’m posting the whole email this company sent me yesterday. I’m only behind one bill, my new bill is due on August 9th. I don’t know if they’re threatening to turn off lights today if I don’t pay the past due bill or if I don’t pay both bills today. I would like to inform them that they aren’t getting the new bill payment until August 9th. I haven’t even received a disconnection letter in the mail. I can’t believe this company is doing customers like this after the hurricane. Disconnection protection ends soon We understand the impact that Hurricane Beryl has had on many of our valued customers.       This company is a joke. I wish I could give zero stars. After the recent hurricane, we were without power for EIGHT days, & I'm still be charged as if I had power for the entire month. I absolutely hate this company. Eight days without power and yet my bill is only $12 cheaper than the previous month. When I contacted customer service, they explained I only used 100kwph less than last month. Something is just not adding up correctly. On average during the summer we use 2000-2200kwph, but being without power for eight days & it's 100kwph less, just doesn't make any sense. Unfortunately, I was transferred to this company almost 3 years ago. I had signed a 3 year contract with my previous electric company & then a month or two later was transferred to them. October can not get here fast enough in order for me to get another company.

      They push the app on you so hard that when it was time to renew my plan after 6 years of loyalty, I was given decent rates. To my surprise a month after I selected my new plan for the next 4 years at one rate and a set cancellation fee, I was given a completely different rate and almost twice as high cancellation fee. I contacted their customer service and provided screenshots of the plans THEY offered on THEIR phone app and I was basically told there is nothing they can do about it even with the proof. At one point, I was called a liar by (2) service reps over the phone. After 6 years of loyalty to this company, I am sad to inform I will be taking my business elsewhere. This company is garbage and I will never do business with them again.

      I have never lived in TX, there have been MULTIPLE accounts opened in my name through TX addresses over the years. They need to create better security protocols in order to prevent this from happening to numerous people and ruining their credit. This is the FOURTH FRAUDULENT account opened in my name in under one year and when I call to rectify the situation they need police reports, copies of my current utility bills, and documented statements whereas it was easier for someone to FRAUDULENTLY open an account through IDENTITY THEFT!
