I saw an ad on Sterling McCall Lexus about a 2018 Nissan Murano. The ad mentioned that it was an automatic transmission. As I was looking for a vehicle to purchase, I was trying to avoid CVT transmission due to bad reviews. They lied on the ad and said it was automatic. I emailed the manager about it and she said they were both the same transmission which is not true. There are three different types of transmission, other ads show manual, automatic, or CVT. Also the vehicles with CVT transmissions are usually cheaper and the price they used on this vehicle was the price for an automatic vehicle. I think this was a fraudulent sale because they lied about the transmission type and they are not willing to help or offer anything back as a customer. I hope I can get help to solve this matter.

Guest sent me an email on 10/3/2022 regarding the same issue. In the email he also stated that prior to purchase he was specifically looking for an automatic transmission vehicle that was NOT a CVT. There are only 2 types of transmissions: automatic and manual. I explained to the guest that a CVT engine is a type of automatic transmission with an infinite gear ratio. I find it hard to believe he did not come across this information during his research. Instead, he purchased the car on 4/6/22 but does not realize that the car was a CVT for 6 months AFTER the purchase even though it was on the hood of the car the entire time. The guest did NOT pay too much for this vehicle. I reviewed the books on it at the time of sale myself. He financed the entire drive out amount with his own credit union. AMOCO would not have finance the loan for him if the value was overstated. In my email to him I told him that he was welcome to give me a call about the matter at any time to see how I could help, but I guess he preferred a more INdirect approach.

For your information a CVT transmission is not an engine, a CVT Transmission is also not automatic because I cannot use the same oil I would used for an automatic transmission on a CVT transmission. I didn’t notice it was a CVT until I decided to do a transmission oil change. I didn’t buy the car and right away decide to change the transmission oil. It’s also extremely strange as soon as I brought this matter up to the manager she decided to have the whole website changed around and announce ads with cars that had CVT transmissions. So now when you look on the site it announces 3 different types of transmissions, the automatic, manual, and the CVT.

The customer is correct regarding CVT being a transmission.
