These people are flat-out extortionists. We were referred to this group to help our 3.5 lb poodle with her dental issues. When she got her first set of rabies vaccinations, she almost died. We have been told to have her titered so she does not have to have more vaccinations. This clinic wanted to charge us over $400 for this. This is a test sent to Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, and Dr. R***, who runs ProtectThePets.com can do this for $90 if you send him the serum. We discussed that in light of the forthcoming dental surgery which was to be expensive, over $1800, that the fee for the titer was prohibitive, to which they just apologized. We told them that Dr. R*** can send to the same lab for $90 and asked if they could either adjust the price or do the blood draw and we can send to him, and they came up with a really lame reason that the chain would be broken so they could not do that. My husband asked if we could speak to the vet about this situation due to the danger to our dog's life from the vaccination and how we can work this out, but he was told that if he did not pay the total of $700 for the office visit and vaccinations, she would not see the dog and did not do so. This is flat-out extortion and is hurtful to our little Pixie - and i would not bring any animal to a place that lacks such compassion nor to a vet who hides behind exorbitant costs and fees.
