I needed car repairs and was told about Corondao Auto Repair. They did not answer their phone when I called to inquire about the repair. I had to go in and make and appointment with them. I had the car towed over Friday April 30th. I did not get a call until 5 days later from *** saying that she received the call but she did not recall getting the keys. (It later turned out that they had signed the paperwork stating that they had received the keys.) She asked me what my keys looked like and said that she would look for them. I became concerned and tried to call back and their voice mail was full. *** a was not answering her cell phone and was not returning my messages to find out what was going on with my car. The missing keys contained the original car key from the manufacturer, the gas tank key, and the alarm system faub. All of these are permanently missing. I had to have the car towed out and spend more money on repairs. I had to file police report on missing keys, etc.

I brought my SUV to *** at Coronado Auto Repair due to my engine misfiring. After my at-home troubleshooting attempts failed to resolve the issue and having made several phone calls to find a reputable mechanic, I was referred to *** and ***** at Coronado Auto Repair. I was told that this shop was very reputable, honest, affordable, and did not perform repairs without the vehicle owner’s approval or move forward on anything if it looked like the cost of repairs would be more than estimated. After bringing my car in, we had a good experience, or at least it started off that way. However the problem began to arise when it had taken a couple of weeks to finally diagnose the issue, during which time I was not offered a loaner vehicle or any alternative modes of transportation(and never was during this entire process) even though that was my primary vehicle for both work and taking my kids to/from school. Once the issue was diagnosed, we went over a couple of different estimate options in attempt to be as budget friendly as possible as well as create the best opportunity to get the repair expeditiously. We agreed on a scope of work and the roles that myself and *** and ***** at Coronado would be in charge of to get the repairs completed as quick as possible. I am writing this review, now 6+ months after having initially taken my vehicle to Coronado, and they had the part they needed, which I provided, for the repair for almost 3 months before I finally was told the vehicle was ready to be picked up. While Coronado has had my car in their shop, I was forced to purchase another vehicle because it was simply taking too long and I no other immediate/available options for transportation, and have since been carrying a second car payment along with the insurance payments all while being unable to drive or sell the car that was being repaired. All of this is shockingly unprofessional, but the icing on the cake was that when I was told the car was ready to be picked up, ***** had *** sent me an invoice for nearly twice the amount of the original estimate even though the scope of work had not changed, nor was there any communication from her, *****, or any other staff member at Coronado about a difference in pricing. During multiple conversations in attempts to resolve this, I was no longer receiving any responses. I decided at that point it was time to fully educate myself on this situation, get the full picture of the repairs on a much more detailed level, consult ** ******** to try to come up with an amiable resolution, and get a quote from the dealership’s maintenance/repair department to verify that I was indeed being overcharged (3.2 hours of labor more than the industry standard for this repair, to be exact). It has now been two weeks since being told the vehicle was ready while getting no further communication from anyone at Coronado with trying to have the invoice adjusted to the correct amount.. until I received a message early this morning (Friday) saying that I needed to pick up the vehicle and pay for the repairs today or starting Monday I will begin incurring storage fees. **** *** ** ** *** **** ************** *** ***** ******** ****** * **** **** ***** *** *** certainly have never encountered any situation like this. When I confronted ***, asking if they are seriously going to add additional charges on top of an already outrageous and unfair invoice that’s currently being disputed, I still have not received any response. I have no desire to not pay them for the work they completed and the miscellaneous parts required to complete the repair, but it is unfair and unethical to be charged more than what was agreed on, let alone more than the industry standard for this type of repair. I have literally only asked that they adjust the labor portion of the invoice to the correct number of hours, I have not requested anything unreasonable. But going from zero communication to being told I have to pay for and pick up my vehicle by the end of the business day (especially when the amount is exponentially higher than was what quoted and therefore budgeted) is completely *********. I have been waiting for a response to my questions and disputes but to no avail until this morning’s message, a message which flat out said that the reason it took so long was because they were supposedly at my mercy while waiting for the major part they needed (my task of procuring said part took approximately 6 weeks, so there is no way I am responsible for the repair taking over 6 months to complete), saying that they had a bay occupied by a disassembled vehicle they could not work on.. which I know for a fact is not true because I had to stop by periodically to get personal items out of the car and it was always parked in the exact same spot until they finally started putting the car back together at the end of last month. I do not and would never recommend this shop to anyone who needs anything more than a basic oil change or brake replacement. I am completely disappointed and upset over this situation *** ******** ****** ******* ********* *** ******* ******** *********. In closing, here is the most basic outline of the events ******* **** *********: 1. We were given one price, and charged considerably more by the time the job was done, when the scope of work had not changed. ********** ********* ****** ****** **** **** *** **** **** *** *********** ****** ******* ********** ** **** * ******** *****. ******* *** *** ***** *** ****. I have proof of this fact, and they refused to do anything to rectify the situation. 2. Coronado auto has had horrible communication. They do not answer their business phone, and the only way one can get a hold of them is by calling *** on her cell phone, or texting her. Even then, it takes an enormous amount of time to get a response, if any, and this lack of communication is made a bad situation worse. There have also been several instances, specifically early on in this process and then towards the end when I was pushing for a completion date, where I was told that the vehicle was going to be ready by a certain day, only to find out that it was not. Bringing this fact to the attention of *** and *****, has literally not even been acknowledged once. 3. Coronado Auto his had my vehicle for 6 MONTHS, with no offer for alternative transportation. This timeframe is completely outrageous and they are now attempting to blame me for it regardless of the fact that my portion of the part procurement was handled in just under 6 WEEKS, and they had said part in their possession for almost 3 months before they began putting the car back together.
