On 9/9/2022 my auto insurance carrier, State Farm contacted the credit union to request a 10 day payoff amount for my loan as my vehicle was being totaled. They were provided an amount and issued a check for that amount within 4 days. On 9/14/2022 I contacted the credit union and filed a gap insurance claim on the loan. On 9/16/2022 I went to the credit union for a new auto loan and was advised that the insurance check was being held because it was not enough to pay off the loan and informed I had to make a loan payment at that time or I would not be given a new loan. On 9/17/2022 I was advised that my gap coverage claim has not been filed and that I am expected to continue making payments on the old loan for which I no longer have the vehicle. I have also been advised that I will not be refunded any overpaid funds to that loan account.

Terrible customer service. I went in the lobby to deposit a check and get a new ATM card. The security guard walked all the way around the building stood right next to me and stared at me for several minutes. It made me feel very uncomfortable to be stared at like that. The guard appeared intimidating, with jack boots on and paramilitary equipment. I asked the guard if I could help him and he said no, he was doing his job. I asked if his job was to stare at the members. He said “yes.” i remarked that it made me feel uncomfortable and as a member, I didn’t appreciate the extra attention. He replied that what I thought about it didn’t matter. How offensive! I snapped a photo of him with my cell phone. The secretary came out and asked me not to take any more photos, so I put my phone down. I continued with my transaction and had to wait for an ATM card. I sat down in a chair on the opposite side of the room from the security guard and got out my phone and started texting a friend while I waited. The security started yelling “He is taking pictures of me” and called for the manager. They both walked over. The manager was rude as they both stood over me as I remained seated, hands on my phone. The manager began threatening me saying that I was still taking pictures. I showed her the text I had been typing. She said she needed to check my phone or I would have to leave and THAT is when the security guard put his hand on his glock pistol. How outrageous that these workers are so poor at dealing with their members that I have a security guard put his hand on a firearm while I am sitting down with both hands on my phone. I was not a threat to anyone and at this point, I just wanted to withdraw my funds and leave. They would not allow me to withdraw my funds and forced me to leave. Intimidating your customers with firearms is unconscionable. I was very angry when I left at the bullying treatment by these CASE employees. What should have been a situation where I received an apology for an overzealous security guard acting unreasonably escalated into a situation where I felt my life was in danger. When I called CASE about how to withdraw my money, Get this - I was told to call the manager who just evicted me from the premises by firearm. Whether I have to sue CASE to get my money or not, I will make sure that others are aware of this experience because no one deserves this type of treatment from a credit union.
