We used this company to pack our truck for a long-distance move. Upon arriving at our new home the unpackers, accompanied by our son, found that the base of our Ethan Allen table was damaged. When I called Main Street movers Mike asked me questions and said the unpackers did it, my dogs did it,,it happened in the truck on the move. He then said he would have someone come out and put glue on it. When I found someone to fix it properly and sent him the information he then informed me he would not pay. He said I had no proof and they didn't do it. By this time we had found that some of our other furniture had been damaged. My furniture had been bubble wrapped so this was even more upsetting. They even took dirty used rugs from our garage to use as packing blankets! (without asking). This company doesn't care about your stuff and I wouldn't use them. They should take responsibility when they damage your things.

After reviewing the paperwork and the file and interviews with the movers and the pictures that she sent me it appears that the items had pre-existing conditions as a courtesy we offered to have it repaired instead she wanted to have a another company without seeing it giving an open-ended estimate what that meant was is that they could go out there and charge more upon arriving so we didn't feel comfortable with that but we did make an offer to have it repaired and she declined The piece of furniture was old and had scratches on it where it appeared their dogs were scratching on that and that's part of the picture that she sent I didn't feel that we had done the damage and in our 15-year history we always take care of our customers if we've made a mistake we did not feel that we made a mistake in this instance sorry I couldn't help her

The items had no pre-existing condition. It was not old. It was not scratched by dogs. We bought it new, it had been installed by Ethan Allen in our home only 2 years prior, and never moved. Surface scratches are not the issue, the pedestal base is cracked all the way through 8 inches of solid wood. The movers had dropped it and stood it on end and attached it to the side of the truck which did not support the base properly. That is why it got the severe crack. The moving company owner said they offered to repair the damage, but they only offered to glue it, not repair it properly. It is a $4000 table and needs more than a simple glue to repair. We referenced the only local qualified furniture repair company, but the moving company refused to authorize them to make the proper repair. We could easily get a precise repair cost from the qualified repair man we obtained our estimate from, and remain open should the owner wish to really repair the table.
