On September 27, 2021, Better Business Bureau contacted Pioneer Law firm concerning advertising claims on the company’s website, http://www.pioneerlawfirm.com/. Specifically, the company claims to be a law firm by stating, “It is not a lawyer referral service or prepaid legal services plan. Each of the lawyers on this site are either Managers, Members, Partners, Limited Partners or staff attorneys.” Consumers allege they are not being advised by attorneys, and that their accounts are handled by account managers or specialists. Consumers further allege they are being referred to a monthly prepaid service plan to resolve their debts without advice from a lawyer.
Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used. An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true. Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements but by omitting or obscuring a material fact.
