Complaint Category: Improper or inferior repair

Complaint: Dealership failed to repair drive-train issues on my 2013 truck. Now, the dealership will not return any of my calls pertaining to the issue.
I purchased a 2013 Toyota Crewmax from Walker Toyota. When looking at the vehicle, I was told by ***** ***** that all "aftermarket" work was performed, onsite, by factory certified technicians. Upon receipt of the vehicle, it was delivered in less than satisfactory condition. The truck was very dirty and had not been vacuumed out. At that time the salesman(***** ****** told me that there was no preparation for mounting the front license plate and I would have to improvise my own solution.

The first day I drove the truck I began to experience drive train issues and returned the truck to the dealership immediately. The service department had the vehicle for a week, before they told me(**** ****) that my issues were related to the aftermarket/3rd party accessories that Walker Toyota/Tire Discounters had added. The general manager(***** ******* and the sales team(***** ****** took a very defensive approach to my complaint, ultimately asking me to lower my expectations.

Eventually the General Sales Manager(***** ****** and I agreed to let Tire Discounters attempt to resolve the problem. ***** ***** also offered me a free bed-liner out of professional courtesy. I accepted. After Tire Discounters had completed the work to my truck, I picked it up, only to find that the original problem is still very much evident. Since 04/15/13 I have been unable to reach anyone at the dealership, even though I've left countless messages for them to return my call.

Consumer Response
Spoke to **** **** on 05/21/13 about replacing wheels and reimbursing monies payed for aftermarket wheels. **** **** to discuss proposal with sales team/management and get back with me by 05/24/13. Still awaiting response.

Business Response
Our Service manager has come to the agreement with the customer to take off the 20" tires and wheels and the lift kit. Customer does not like drivablilty with the customization. So we will accomodate the changes to bring the truck back to stock conditions and rebate that money pd for the lift kit and wheels and tires.

Consumer Response
(BBB note: The following information was received from the Ohio Attorney General's Office in regard to this complaint.)

Describe the transaction and your complaint: I purchased a new vehicle from Walker Toyota. Shortly after the purchase, I began having trouble with the vehicle. My issues are directly related to aftermarket wheels/tires installed by the dealership, prior to my purchase. Toyota Corporate does not approve to the aftermarket wheels/ties. these aftermarket wheels/tires have corrupted the integrity of the vehicle.I believe the issues that I'm experiencing with my brakes are a huge safety concern. Walker Toyota refuses to fix my vehicle, or return any of my phone calls.

Briefly describe what you would consider a reasonable resolution to your complaint: Return the truck to factory level integrity and refund the additional money that I was charged for aftermarket accessories. I believe that Walker Toyota charged me for factory wheels/tires and aftermarket wheels.

Complaint Resolution: Company resolved the complaint issues. The consumer acknowledged acceptance to BBB.
