“On March 26, 2019, EBay Motors came to the attention of BBB. At that time. a consumer told BBB that they were on a buy and sell website when they saw an advertisement for a vehicle and inquired on the vehicle. They received an email from the seller with the car details and emailed her with interest to purchase the car.
The seller sent an invoice from EBay Motors with the purchase details and that payment must be made with EBay Gift Card Vouchers Only. After payment was made, the buyer received another invoice requesting additional funds.
The buyers became suspicious of the process and contacted the legitimate EBay Customer Support Team who confirmed they are not affiliated with this company. The Buyer requested a refund of the funds they paid. The seller refused and stated the buyer must contact Ebay. The Buyer was encouraged by the legitimate Ebay company to file a police report. All transactions were conducted via email only. The seller did not provided a phone number or an address to the buyer.
At this time, BBB cannot confirm the legitimacy of this organization and advises consumers to be cautious when purchasing items only by contacting BBB for information on a company before making any purchases.
