On July 31, 2018, the Office of the US Attorney in Cincinnati OH, along with the FBI and the USDOT Office of the Inspector General (USDOT OIG), held a press conference announcing indictments of individuals connected to a racketeering enterprise to defraud individuals through moving companies, naming 14 businesses across the country as targets of the investigation, including First National Moving & Storage. Consumers who have fallen prey to this scheme should contact the USDOT OIG hotline at 1-800-424-9071.
On December 19, 2022, Serghei Verlan pleaded and was found guilty of one court of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Conspiracy. He was sentenced to 72 months with credit for time served beginning 9/13/2018 in the Bureeau of Prisons. Upon release from imprisonment, Mr. Verlan will be on supervised release for a period of 3 years.
