I hired Amer through Homeadvisor to advise and install several outlets that I needed for energy-intensive projects. I asked about the type of outlets I needed to safely operate my equipment. He displayed a friendly and polite persona and stated that he needed to install dedicated lines to ensure there was no overload, to which I agreed. I paid him a lot of money for that as well as a few other jobs he did that day. The next day, my basement lights were flashing on and off, which never happen prior to him installing the outlets. I called him and he stated that there was a problem with my bulbs and I needed LED lights. I paid thousands more for him to do that for a problem I never had prior to the outlet installation. A few weeks later, one of my breakers kept tripping. Again, I called him out to which he said was an overload to which he wanted to install dedicated lines. He was going to charge $3900! I contacted an electrician through my warranty company for a second opinion and he found a loose wire to the breaker, which he fixed and I did not have a problem since. Back to my original project of the outlets' installation, recently I received all of my equipment. I plugged in my equipment, started them up, resulting in a breaker tripping. I checked the electrical box and it was the breaker to my air-conditioner! Amer did not even connect the so-called dedicated lines to its own breakers! I could have had a fire because of this. He did not fully perform the work for which I paid tons of money. I wished I could have had a second opinion and disregarded his advice against it. NOW, I need to hire someone to fix the mess that he created. Before you hire him, I HIGHLY recommend that you require a DETAILED written estimate and ALWAYS get a second opinion prior to committing to his services. Require that he provide a written statement of everything that he did prior to paying him.
