GROOT INDUSTRIES INCREASED OUR MONTHLY PAYMENT WITHOUT NOTIFICATION. WHEN THE MONTHLY FEES BECAME BACKLOGGED, THEY STOP PICKING UP OUR GARBAGE, RESULTING IN ** HAVING TO OBTAIN A NEW VENDOR. NOW, THEY ARE TRYING TO HAVE US PAY FOR BREACH OF CONTRACT.Review from Mary E

Groot in Plano Illinois was rude hung up and has charged me collection fee when it wasn’t in collections and service interruption when it was never interrupted. Please watch your bills cause they don’t call or mail you anything and just add fee to your bill.Review from Lawrence K

In August of 2016 I contracted Groot Industries to dispose of waste from my small business for a period of, I believe, five years for a monthly fee of $42+ per month. This September 1 statement from them was for $115+ per month. By my calculations that amounts to approximately 275% increase since the initial contract. Our August statement was for $93+. Groot industries contends that their rate increases are included in the auto renewable contract which was part of the original contract from 2016. However, we never received notice from Groot that the contract was was being automatically renewed. Since we are a small business we do not have an employee whose job it is to keep tabs on matters of this nature and notify us of the auto renewal. We feel that these increased rates are outrageous and unenforceable based on the fact that we did not receive written notice of the agreement auto renewing. We have been notified by Groot that their purported early termination will result in liquidated damages of $563+ and equipment removal fees of $150. We feel that these claims are heavy handed and are meant to intimidate small businesses into submission with these tactics.Review from Emme M

We live in ***************, ********. We are being serviced by Groot Industries for garbage and yard waste pickup. We paid for unlimited yard waste pick up and have been having problems with the company. This is the second time that they have missed to pick up yard waste. We called Groot Industries and the person on the phone shouted at my husband. By the way he was put on hold for almost 20 minutes. Horrible phone customer service. And I can attest to that because the same lady shouted at me 3 weeks ago when they failed to pick up yard waste as well.We need help, addressing the issue. We paid $182.00 for service and toter. We should not be treated like we are asking for favor. Horrible people to talk to on the phone. Garbage and Yardwaste should be picked up to prevent mice, raccoon and coyotein the area RespectfullyReview from Jason P

Had a scheduled replacement/repair of broken recycle bin on 8/7. ******** was set up via wife who reminded me to make sure bin was left out for p/u. I was home that day and watched the driver with replacements on truck drive by and leave neighborhood. It is a cul-de-sac so its not like he turned onto street as a pass-thru. I called to see if a driver was coming still and explained the event. (supervisor) said they didn't have a known work order for replacement? I explained seeing the driver drive by and that my wife is spot on with appts. She said there was no way to alter his route even though it was 20 min after seeing him. She made a new work order and said she would try and expedite to deliver on Tues (next day). Agreed and hung up. Realized later that I forgot work order # confirmation for records and called back to get # and detail of what supervisor scheduled. Got another customer service person with work order # and she said it would be delivered on Monday 8/14. Reiterated the request from supervisor who was not available, on getting out sooner. No call/visit thus far and its now Thurs 8/10. Called in with work order and if they were planning to deliver as requested? Well wouldn't you know, no request other than Monday 8/14 exchange/repair. No mention of plan for early exchange/missed appt. Worthless!!!Review from Diane S

We worked with Groot for 5 years at our business. In May, we decided to move our business to another area. I called to find out the rates for our new location and it was 4 times higher per month than we were currently paying. I indicated we would need to cancel our services due to the cost increase. The rep went from Mr. **** Guy to Mr. **** and informed us that we needed to (in writing) cancel ****** days before June 1st or it was an automatic renewal. I told him that was impossible as it was a sudden change of plans to move. He then informed me of charges equaling over $1100 for being in "breach of contract". I asked for a supervisor to call me, which never occurred. After many calls on my part, I finally emailed a supervisor and told him of the prices we were quoted and how ridiculously high they were. He indicated it was a miscommunication as to how it was written in the email. That is not my problem. Oh, by the way, during Covid, our office was closed for almost two years. We continued to pay our bill although we weren't there. I asked if I could negotiate and pay the last month and 1/2 the removal of the containers and was told NO! I would need to pay the $1100. They are doing nothing more than trying to bully me! I own a business and would NEVER EVER treat a client this way. Shame on both the Sales Supervisor and the account Rep.Review from Richard S

July of 2021 Goot Industries became **********, ** garbage collectors. Groot picks up trash once a week on my residential street and bills the residents once every 3 months. Months before July 2021 I left my house in ******** to stay in ******** while ******** solves their problems with hospital bed shortage, vaccination and masking. I During that time **************** provided trash collection in ********** and they simply put my trash pickup on hold and picked up their cans. **** contacted me with a bill stating that they are my garbage company, and I will be getting new cans delivered. I contacted Groot soon after and explain to them that there was no garbage to be pick up. Groot applied a hold on trash pick advised me to contact them every 3 months to update my status, I contacted Goot Sept 26th to continue the hold on pickup, The agent told me OK and to disregard the bill when it arrives. THREE months later the next Billing Cycle Jan 6th I was notified the I owe close to One hundred seventy dollars. Groot now tells me that I because I did not talk to them on Oct 1st that they would not adjust the bill, so sorry. Oct 1 was a Saturday, but my phone log shows that I contacted them on Sept 26. Groot will not give me a corporate customer care or disputed department contact nor can i find one on their website. Their way of simplifying their money hording is charging everybody the same, whether they have two full garbage cans overflowing and bags around them or a half empty 15-gal trash bag or NO GARBAGE AT ALL. Picking up garbage and rolling in dough.Groot Industries Response

The back story is this resident called in last August and said that he was not in the home and at the time he owed $18.29 we did credit off the $18.29 and advised him we would put the account on Vacation hold until October, he would need to call us back before October to extend the vacation hold or his account would start to bill. He did not call until Jan 10th of 2023. We did check water usage and **** did tell me it wan minimal but enough to say that the home is occupied. They are serviced on Thursday; We can check with the driver and see if they have been putting any garbage out during the time ******************** says the home was vacant. If there was not garbage out, then we will issue a credit of $149.36.Review from Kimberly H

Wish there were an option for 0 stars. I never in my life had a company strong arm a disabled senior into paying an astronomical amount of money to begin service. After arguing that I don't owe the money they ratted me out to my village who then forced me into paying or I would have gotten more fines. They should really be ashamed of themselves.Review from LA B

***** or ***** who is a customer service representative is very rude. Always cutting me off when I am talking. Wanting to charge me for the service they should have provided in the first place. They did not pick up my garbage but when I asked them to do it they want to charge me.
