Since my mom moved to the hospital thats was too much going on. After her done for all surgery and scans. On the other day we found out she denture got lost . Denture is invaluable for the patient under her situation. If missed I cant imagine how does the patient able to rebuild a new denture under this condition. luckily , security guard found it. We were very thankful. Things are continual coming. After she removed all the feeding tubes and oxygen tube in her nose . She not able to talk very well . Until night. She try to attempt let her companion knew she felt very uncomfortable on her nose. Companion try to see whats going on . He found out that a thing was left over in side her nose like around 4 inches long blue string .fortunately companion found out early. otherwise that is unpredictable outcome. We felt so bad. We didnt complain, we understood nothing 100% perfect. I didnt decide to complain. Until yesterday things are constant occurred. On 8/29 nights around 12 pm Suddenly staff are come to her room required her move room from 1042 To 1013 same type of the room. With out any ahead notification. That was so terrible under the patient bedding time request to move to other rooms if room 1013 available why dont just use that room and choice to disturb patient and companion to move. Why pick the room people whos doesnt speak English? Discrimination?Review from Ryan E

If I could give them a zero I would. My wife and I went through IVF treatments and while we could not recommend the physicians and nursing staff more, the billing department of the clinic is unhelpful, unreachable, and cannot answer basic questions. As part of our process we had several embryos genetically tested in order for us to determine if they were viable to be implanted. Alongside the testing, the clinic required us to prepay for the embryo transfer (if we were to have an embryo test as viable to be implanted). Unfortunately, no embryos passed the genetic testing and we could not proceed with our embryo implant. Expecting to be refunded our $5k prepayment for that implant, - as we were told would happen should we not be able to proceed - Northwestern has since held our prepayment of $5k hostage. The only explanation we have received for a month is that we had outstanding hospital bills totaling $800 (which we were unaware of). The billing department is barely reachable and cannot answer why then at least $4,200 is not refundable.IVF is a long and taxing (and expensive) process and the added stress of having to attempt to claw back our money has added to a stressful process.Review from Michael M

I received a referral to see a doctor at his office. I scheduled the apointment for a counseltation and I was there for less then 30 minutes, leaving with just information on what I potentially could have done. I received a bill from the doctor and then NW also sent me a bill for a "facility charge" because the doctor works for that hospital, even though i never stepped foot into the hpspital. The fee was never disclcosed upfront or communicated to me at all. When attempting to discuss or get an explanation from the billing department, i was informed this is normal and there is nothing i can do about it.Review from Bethany M

I would leave zero stars if I could. This hospital hands down is the worst for 1) getting an appointment, and 2) their billing. Every time I use a physician at NW, they mess up the bill. They don't enter insurance correctly; they balance bill for in-network claims and the billing group lies about what the insurance pays and what the patient is responsible for. I have been dealing with this for years with them and they even went so far to send a bill to collections when it was their error. It took me hours and hours of calls and emails for them to fix their incompetent billing department. I am fortunate I work in the benefits space, so I understand the in-network billing process. I can't imagine how many people just pay because they do not know.Review from William D

First time at this hospital, wife was in a car accident and when I got to the emergency room they made me wait in the lobby. I have never been to a hospital that made a family member wait in the waiting room. This hospital disgusts me and I will never bring any family to this place or refer anyone to this place.Review from Pooja K

My mom was admitted at Northwestern for Covid for 7 weeks. She is immunocompromised so it complicated the case. I was prevented from seeing her during that time except for 2 times before discharge. (Note, I had been caring for her for 4 weeks before that, and Im fully vaccinated). Her health declined and she was put on a ventilator. We encouraged them to try a new treatment that was showing promise in clinical trials by top ranking hospitals. They refused. In fact they didnt offer any treatment for Covid. I chose to pay $16,000 to have a private jet transport her to the **************** who gave her the treatment immediately (as they had been using it and had seen many successes). THEY saved her life. During our time at NM I tried to reason and discuss with the doctors, to no avail. My mother wouldve died there. I will not return and I discourage anyone else from putting your life in their hands.Review from Amy R

I have been going to Northwestern Medicine for many years and my experience with their medical doctors has been superb. However, I am currently fighting a clearly fraudulent billing charge that their billing department is trying to dig in their heels on.I had an elective procedure that is not typically covered by insurance, so the doctor's ****** had a standard pay structure that was required to be paid in full before the procedure. I agreed to it, paid the $7800, and the procedure was done. Days after the procedure, however, their billing department sent me a new **** with the agreed-upon numbers drastically changed and claiming that I owe an additional $19,000 that I was never informed of. I challenged the additional charge with proper documentation of the original agreement, but the billing ****** stood by the additional charge. I contacted the doctor himself personally and he responded saying that I was completely correct and the extra charge should never have happened (I have this documented). The billing ****** is clearly trying to now charge me ten times the average cost of this procedure, are expecting me to pay a huge five-figure **** that I never agreed to, and appear to be violating the recently passed "No surprises act". I will be reporting them to the BBB, *** medical billing fraud, and will be fighting this will lawyers if they don't back down.Review from Imogen V

I have been going to Northwestern for many many years and had never had a problem with them until recently. I had surgery in Sep 2021 and all went well, the nursing staff were amazing and everything was in-line with expectations. My issues with Northwestern are around their billing. They have started to double charge you, one for the doctor and one for the facility. My most recent appointment was a telehealth psychologist appointment. They filed THREE claims with my insurance company. THREE! One for the 45 minute appointment and two for the telehealth appointment. Of course, my insurance have denied all three, one reason being a duplicate ****. Going to fight it and have the **** resubmitted but worst case I could end up paying $920 for one 45 minute telehealth appointment. How are they legally allowed to get away with this (rhetorical question)!
