On Sunday, May 8, 2022, I went into the Berwyn Fruit Market store to purchase some items. As I was walking through the produce ***** I saw a pkg of veggies for soup was marked $2.99 while the others were $5.99. I took it with the intention of purchasing the item for the marked price. When the cashier rang up and read me the total I asked her why was the balance wrong. She pointed out that although the soup mix was marked $2.99, the right price was $5.99 and that's what she charged me. I told her she was supposed to ring up the price that was marked on the pkg. She told me to wait, and walked over to a man. He then came to the register with a pkg that was marked $5.99. He said, the pkg I had in my hand was marked incorrectly. I told him that it's what the item say and that he had to sell it to me for $2.99 since that's what it was marked. He said No he does not have to sell the item for the price marked. He said his store is a privately owned company and therefore, he doesn't have to sell to anyone he does't want to. He took the veggie mix and then proceeded to remove my other items from the register and said You should leave now. I told him I wanted the other items and he said NO. I am not selling you anything. You need to leave. When I asked him his name he said ******** and started laughing. I felt Humiliated in front of the other customers in line and the employees. I don't know if this is how he runs his business. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT or Bait and Switch. I told him I was going to report him to BBB and he said "you go ahead and do what you want to do but you need to leave now." What actions can be taken against the store? We as customers expect that the price on the pkg is the price we have to pay whether the business is privately owned or not. Is this a scam like bait and switch. Are we customers being ripped off and its OK ? Thank You.
