I can not recommend North Town Home Services unless you are in a real time bind and are willing to pay whatever they decide to charge you. I feel like they significantly over charged me for the service provided. Our oven failed on the night of 12/11/2021 (a Saturday). On Monday morning, I started to try and find someone to come out to diagnose/fix the oven. My first call was to Abt where I had purchased the oven. They said they were really backed up on service calls and couldnt come out until 1/3/2022. This was totally unacceptable and I continued to call others. ***** and ****** said they could come out on 12/21/2021, so I set-up a scheduled call. (I told them I would cancel the call if I found someone else that could come out earlier). Then I called North Town Home Services and spoke with ****. She was courteous and said they could be out on Friday, 12/17/2021. I said great, I will see your technician then. On Friday morning, their tech called and said he would be here around 7:45am. He showed at 7:53am and began his work. He found the problem in very short order, the oven heat element was blown. He said he would like to leave the unit unassembled and I agreed since it would shorten the repair when he came back. He told me I owed him $109.00 for the trip charge. I wrote him a check and I pressed him about the completion of the repair and he assured me the new oven heat element part would be ordered that morning. I received a call the evening of 12/21/2021 saying the part had come in and he could be out the morning of 1/22/2021 around 9:30am. As promised, he showed up at 9:28am and fixed the oven with the new part. When he was done, less than 20 minutes, he said I owed him $345.00. I said, on top of the trip charge I already paid on Friday?. He said yes. I said it seems like a lot, because I know the Whirlpool part sells at retail for $44.00. He said hold on dont write the check yet and then he told me that days charge would be $310.00 instead of $345.00. I paid him and decided that I would tell about my price gouging online. No matter how I look at this transaction, the charge is exorbitant. The charge from Abt would have been $179.00 plus any parts. That would include one or two trips and includes their labor charge. Im fully aware that the retail cost of the part ($44.00 which included the shipping) is typically not what a service provider would charge. I would fully expect to pay $80.00 for the part. However, I went back and looked at my Ring video to determine how long North Towns tech was here each time. The first trip (diagnose and disassemble) took exactly 20 minutes. The second trip (replace heat element, reassemble and test and collect his ****) took 27 minutes. If I assume that a reasonable charge for the $44 part is $80, then Abt would have charged me $179.00 + $80 = $259 to fix the oven, however they werent available. Unfortunately, North Town, charged me $419 for the repair. Making the same assumption on the part charge, their labor/trip charge was $339 or approx. $7.21 per minute or a rate of $432.6 an hour. I think most people would call this exorbitant. Be very wary of this service provider.
