We had a technician come out from Advance Heating and Cooling to look at our Sensi smart thermostat to ensure it was installed correctly. (They are listed as an authorized dealer on the Sensi website.) After spending 2 minutes looking at the thermostat the technician spent the majority of the time in the basement where our system is located. (He apparently took it upon himself to inspect our unit which we didnt ask for or know he was doing.)The technician then came upstairs and proceeded to tell us our heater exchange had exploded and had holes in it which could leak carbon monoxide which would cause serious illness or death to our family. He showed us a couple of pictures of what appeared to me to be a rust spot and then explained how serious this issue was. He made sure to point out how he was looking out for us and our children especially our 6 month old daughter who was at home during the appointment. The technician told us not to run our unit and told us it absolutely needed replaced. I was left in tears worrying for the safety of my kids and how on earth I was going to keep them warm. The technician then proceeded to try and sell us a new system ranging in price from $9,000 to $21,000. He explained replacing the heater and ac at the same time would be cheaper so we should do them together. He also reviewed pricing with their financing option stating it would only be around $150 a month. Most of the appointment was spent talking about what a new unit would cost.We have since had other companies come out and inspect the unit (mind you for half the price of the service call that Advance charged us) and they spent a great deal of time inspecting the unit and found no cause for concern. To top it off if the heater exchange was bad it would most likely be covered under our system warranty and therefore no need to replace our unit. Just to be safe we did get estimates from the other companies to replace the unit and the price came in thousands of dollars less. They also didnt push for us to replace both units at one time and just recommended replace what we need to when that time comes.Walking away from our appointment I truly believe the technician used scare tactics into trying to get us to buy a new system from them. On top of that the prices they charge are much higher than other local companies with much longer and trusted reputations. I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone.

********, first and foremost I am sorry that you feel this way, secondly, if you're writing a review, please be honest instead of making stuff up. Yes, you are correct the technician that came out was myself, the company owner, was out there to fix your Sensi thermostat that you installed yourself and could not get to work properly. You asked me to look at your humidifier also because of a mold issue. And yes, I did take it upon myself to inspect your furnace due to the age of the equipment and the safety of your family, that is what good companies do. Your unit was manufacturer in ****, if you were the original homeowner most manufacturers will give you a limited parts warranty of 20 years on a heat exchanger, you are not the original homeowner of this furnace as you told me you've only lived there for 3 years. You are more than welcome to do your research on this warranty. Tranes warranty department phone number is ************** they will need your serial number to look up your piece of equipment, serial number is *********. I explained to you that having a ruptured heat exchanger and pit holes in the heat exchanger from the age of the equipment has the potential to produce carbon monoxide in the living space, I also proceeded to tell you that it may never leak carbon monoxide in your house, but the potential is there. The ************************* which is the authority on any gas fired appliance, states in their documents you have two options either repair by replacing the heat exchanger or replace the furnace. I gave you options on just replacing the furnace by itself or doing them both at the same time, due to both furnace and Ac system being the same age. You at that point proceeded to tell me that you wanted to replace both units at the same time, so I gave you options to replace both. If you wanted an option on replacing the furnace by itself, I had that option available to you, yes I did say it would be cheaper to do both at the same time we already have our trucks and are installers there, so there is a lot less labor involved. In no way did I ever use scare tactics, my job is to inform you and let you decide. As for how you were going to keep your family warm? You have two systems in your house and the other system is working just fine. So, your family would have been just fine with one system running especially with the temperatures being in the 50s and 60s. I never pushed you towards buying a system from us I gave you the information and allowed you to decide. My job is to give you your options and you decide on what you would like to do. As for the other local companies with much longer and trusted reputation, you don't mention their names, how do know that they're more trusted with a longer reputation? We have been serving the local community since 2008, we are very trusted in our community. We are not a large company, but we are not a one-man in a truck company, also our prices are not going to be the cheapest no matter how you slice It, I cannot compete with the one-man show. We have overhead like an actual building with a warehouse for our business, we do not run our business out of our house, we have newer trucks that are technicians drive so we can keep our technicians safe and get our technicians to your home without breaking down. I want to be the least expensive for the job done right which includes educating our technicians, sending them to classes to become certified to look at heat exchangers with both Scopes and combustion analyzers. So please don't try to slander my company's name just because you think you can. I really do wish you the best, and I hope you get your furnace replaced because it really needs to be replaced for your safety and your family.
