      I had a horrific experience at the Bitters store. The man behind the counter “****” assaulted me. I am 5’2” in heels. But I’ll not tolerate a bully and dishonest business. Two months ago I took two pieces of tooled leather luggage to this store. The overnight bag needed a handle replaced, I provided the leather shoulder strap and asked them to replace both handles to match. The other is a hanging garment bag needing three seams sewn. The man working the counter “****” indicated he’d speak with the owner “*****” to get me a price for repair, I left the luggage, a few days later he called me with a price of $ 180. I told him I expected the work to be well executed, as I had not paid that much for the two pieces, combined, new. About a week before the due date **** called to say they needed more time. When went to retrieve my luggage here’s what I found, with **** now at the counter.. One torn seam was not addressed at all, and the bottom corners remained tattered on garment bag. Both bags were discolored, darker than the original tan color. As I pointed out the poor workmanship the price suddenly changed to $ 180 for each bag. I placed 2 $ 100 dollar bills on the counter picked up my bags. **** violently tore the garment bag from my hands. Frightened I ran out to my car where he pushed me against the car and took the other bag from me. I called the police. They came and took a report. **** denied having the money. His act was so violent he cut his hand on the bag hardware and left a spot of blood on my car. He said I assaulted him and also called the police. They came, took a report and I left without my bags or my money. The officer indicated I could return tomorrow to speak with the store owner. I am honestly afraid to go back there. They are clearly dishonest and couldn’t towards women from what I experienced and from the two other complaints described here. I’ll be filing in smalls claims court.

      I am shocked to read the review from ****** S as it so closely mirrors my own. I was referred to the Bitters location to refinish a metallic shoe. After several weeks of going back and forth with them on the refinishing and me physically going into the shop on several Saturdays I went to pick them up and they were very sloppily done. The buckles and zipper pulls had not been masked off, and they had not removed the straps before refinishing so under the straps was untouched. I explained to the guy (I will not call him a gentleman) what I saw that needed addressing and he wrote it down but then said that I needed to call and speak to the actual repair people.I'm not sure how that's my job to relay the repair information, that's literally his job so, no I did not call.When I went in 2 weeks later to pick them up he immediately started berating me asking if I had called or not. I tried to reply to him but he got very agitated and would never let me get a word in edgewise. He the had the audacity to tell me to step outside the store as if I needed to calm down. Making me step outside only escalated my irritation and when I came back in I asserted that I'd like to say my piece and he continued to talk over and interrupt me. He then started threatening to call the police on me. For context I'm a 4'11" woman.I finally said just let me pay for the shoes to get out of there and he threw me out of the store again and once again said he would call the cops.I called my husband to come over and just get my shoes. When we walked back up to the store he physically locked the door and would only let my husband in and not **** have never been treated so badly by someone in the service industry and minimized by not letting me speak and trying to physically assert dominance over me. I was so mad, I was shaking. And if this is the same guy, he's got a pattern of behavior.
