I could not have been more disappointed with Ekhoff Builders in Pekin, IL. We had someone come over for a quote, and we should have looked in a different direction. Their prices were way over the scope of the job, but they detailed to us that an amount of work would be done so we agreed. When the subcontractor came out, he was here for 4 hours total (2 hours of that was driving to ******* for more materiels). When the subcontractor completed the job after those 4 hours, there was still rotten wood and not even a forth of the work we agreed to on the contract was completed. The subcontracter blamed the company saying they didn't communicate what was to be accomplished. We called Ekhoff. The subcontractor came out again about 4 days later. We requested a cost anaylsis, because we refused to pay the ridiculous cost for so little work. We agrued with the company for 4 days before they finally showed us the cost breakdown. They decided to refund us about 1,000. I am perfectly fine with paying a contractor an honest living and more than willing to pay for materiels. I am not arguing paying at all. This company wanted 66.5% additional ontop of the bill for overhead and personnel. There was no special equipment used for this job. This job only had 1 contractor (not several). I would have willingly paid for 10-20% for overhead, especially with inflation considering overhead is profit for the company so they can stay open. This company wanted 66.5% for overhead- just overhead, which is probably why we had to keep asking for a cost breakdown for 4 days with the company including the owner. I would not recommend this company to a friend. In my opinion, this company came off as lazy, wanting to make a large profit without doing much work, and they were very defensive when we inquired where several thousands of dollars were going because it couldn't possibly be towards materiels or labor. Materiels were under 500. Labor was under 3,000. Over 2,000 went towards overhead/personnel
