I would like to submit this complaint based on not being able to get a hold of anyone at Verandah Properties regarding numerous issues with my lease for an apartment in Downtown Orlando. I began the lease March of 2021 and starting in May 2021 had a very bad rodent infestation. Verandah Properties did address the issue, although it was not as timely as I would have hoped. On May 16, 2022, the pest control company advised me to email Verandah to let them know preventative maintenance should be completed as I could hear rats in the walls and the hot water tank closet. In my email, I indicated that I did not feel comfortable living in the apartment if nothing was done to repair the holes that were not fixed and feared I would have another infestation. On May 27, 2022, I sent another email saying there were rats inside the unit and provided pictures of the droppings and holes. I mentioned that I needed to evacuate the apartment and let them know I would be out by June 1st. I followed all move-out policies, cleaned the apartment, and dropped the keys off at the New Broad St. office on June 2, 2022 since I had not heard back from them with further instruction. No one was at the office, so I received a receipt of dropping off the keys and left a letter stating I needed to hear back on what to do with the electricity as I did not want to turn it off and risk mold growth due to no AC. With still no response, I turned the electricity services off on June 7th. Immediately I received communication from the upstairs tenant stating her electricity also turned off in her kitchen and bedroom. This leads me to believe I have been paying a portion of the electric bill for two rooms not included in my unit. I emailed Verandah letting them know about the issue and still no response. I would also like to investigate the hot water tank electrical supply and know if I paid for the hot water tank expense solely, as I believe it is the only tank for all four units.
